The recently completed Mooloolaba apartment development, Picasso, has been etched with a piece of artwork on its striking facade.

The contemporary sold-out project&nbsp;by local developer&nbsp;Cube Developments, features artwork created by local artist Timothy Birch.

An ode to the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast that surrounds the newly built formation, Birch said he wanted to create a statement with a deeper meaning of unity for the community.

Capturing the textures from the surrounding landscapes such as earth, ocean and atmosphere, the artwork &lsquo;Holding On&rsquo; uses connected line work that speaks to the style of Picasso, reflecting the way he interpreted images to his canvas.

&ldquo;The Sunshine Coast is going through a huge growth period right now and I was really excited to have an opportunity to leave a mark in an area that I have spent so much time in,&rdquo; said Birch.

&ldquo;Holding On is about respecting the elements that make this coast what it is. Our region is going through so much rapid change it was important to me to capitulate our resilience to hold onto the natural beauty of our coast that surrounds new built formation.&rdquo;

The views of the mountains, ocean, bush and a large viewpoint of the setting sun wer&nbsp;inspirations for Birch, who wanted to draw on the colours from those elements for the overall concept of the building.

&ldquo;Picasso aims to showcase the brilliance of design, matched by the stunning natural environment that surrounds it. Using small amounts of bright colours was critical in creating a piece visible to thousands of people daily, both driving and walking by,&rdquo; Birch noted.

A Sydney born creative and with ten years in the industry under his belt, Birch&rsquo;s public art influence stemmed from an era where pop art was heavily ingrained in surf culture.

&ldquo;I like to find the divide between pop art and the natural landscapes surrounding it. I believe it&rsquo;s early days for public art in the Mooloolaba area, but it&#39;s slowly getting there. I&rsquo;m hoping this artwork creates momentum to commission other opportunities that pop up for artists in the area. Simply put, art is good for the soul. It has the ability to bring communities together.&rdquo;

Cube Developments Director Scott Juniper said there is so much potential for artwork in the Sunshine Coast area and said they look forward to pioneering this space on relevant Cube projects.

&ldquo;We&rsquo;re thrilled with the end result of Tim&rsquo;s work and feel it enhances the elegant build of Picasso. It&rsquo;s a special mural that residents can be proud to come home to and we look forward to future art opportunities with Tim,&rdquo; Juniper said.

The seven-storey architecturally designed&nbsp;Picasso comprises just 12 three-bedroom&nbsp;apartments, located 200-metres from the beach.

Construction is now complete on the project, with settlement occurring&nbsp;in the coming weeks.

Construction has commenced on Picasso, the Mooloolaba apartment project by Cube Developments.

The $12.5 million development a stone's throw from Mooloolaba Esplanade comprises 12 apartments across seven storeys.

Nine of the 12 apartments have already been snapped up by local and interstate buyers, with 30 per cent hailing from Victoria and New South Wales, a trend which Cube Development director Scott Juniper says is a trend that has held true across the entire portfolio.

"The after-shock of COVID has all but settled ​with those once in a lifetime decisions now imminent,” Juniper said.

The project has captured the interest of buyers of second dwelling, with owner-occupiers the next highest category of shopper.

Juniper believes the rapid success in sales of the project is down to its relative affordability and vantage in the sought-after Sunshine Coast pocket.

“There hasn’t been a boutique project like Picasso released in the area in a number of years, so this is a rare opportunity for buyers to purchase new in the area,” Juniper said.

“The vantage at Mooloolaba is unrivalled - just 200 metres from the patrolled beach, and a short walk to the new entertainment and dining district at the wharf.”

“This all contributes to creating a lifestyle around the precinct that is unlike any other,” Juniper added.

Of the three remaining apartments is a three-bedroom sub-penthouse valued at $1.95 million, featuring its own sky-high, private infinity pool.

Spanning the whole of the sixth floor, the near 290 sqm apartment also features a wine cellar and four balconies, with ocean glimpses from the main.

The other two three bedroom apartments are priced at $935,000 and $995,000. They each have two balconies and a kitchen with stone bencht ops and Smeg appliances.

Billed as the best boutique residential complex on the Sunshine Coast, a penthouse in the Tangalooma Residence has been listed for sale at $7.4 million.

Tenanted Mooloolaba retail investment hits the market

A Mooloolaba home that is believed to have been visited by legendary actor Sean Connery has been listed for sale.
The visit was during the Cilento family ownership of the home known as the Butterfly House.
The ABC suggested Diane Cilento visited the folks on one occasion with Sean Connery when they were married.
The <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-qld-mooloolaba-126438474" target="_blank">1950s charmer</a> at 135 Buderim Avenue, Mooloolaba with retro fittings and stylings last traded for $476,000 in 2013. Mooloolaba's Butterfly House once owned by the Cilento family listed

The trans Pacific businessman David Mackay - who briefly headed the McGrath Estate Agents group - and wife Michelle are selling their Mooloolaba apartments in the Sirocco development near the Gold Coast.
The couple, who commute between the US and Australia, <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-qld-mooloolaba-126239730" target="_blank">bought in the block in 2005</a>.
G1 Property Mooloolaba agent Simon Guilfoyle is marketing all three apartments.
Mackay has been the chief executive of US giant Kellogg Company before retiring in 2011.
A year later he joined Woolworths as a director before departing in 2015.

Our 225 Federal politicians own a staggering $370 million worth of property, but the Liberal Party Queensland political Andrew Laming is getting rid of one of his.
