Joint venture partners, Abadeen Group and PERIFA, have unveiled their exciting, bold vision for the former historic Halvorsen Boat Shed precinct, on the water at Putney in Sydney’s north.

Boasting 300 metres of absolute waterfrontage, the site will undergo a dramatic transformation bringing its rich boating history and the Norwegian boat building family, the Halvorsens, who owned it since the early 1900s, along with it.

Putney Wharf Residences (PWR) will comprise a vibrant mixed-use wharf precinct comprising a mix of luxury two, three and four-bedroom apartments and townhouses suited to local downsizers and owner-occupiers. The precinct will be complemented by dynamic waterfront dining and retail along with a marina of approximately 36 berths.

Abadeen Group’s Executive Chairman Justin Brown said Putney Wharf Residences presents an extraordinary opportunity to transform this rare waterfront site into a dynamic mixed-use wharf precinct featuring bespoke retail, waterfront dining and luxury residential – akin to Woolloomooloo Wharf.

“While you’re unlikely to see the Sydney high society or celebrities at Putney Wharf Residences as you do at Woolloomooloo Wharf, PWR will attract high net worth local professional families who are looking for waterfront living with great dining on their doorstep, without having to leave their precinct – while, for some, mooring their boat in the marina out front,” Brown said.

Designed by local Sydney architects SJB, Putney Wharf Residences located at 20 Waterview Street along Putney’s spectacular harbourfront, will offer three residential components comprising a mix of apartments and terraces.

While the majority of the apartments will have water views, at the heart of the precinct will be a contemporary and sophisticated waterfront dining, entertainment and retail precinct becoming a vibrant new destination for the local community.

Sitting on an expansive 15,870 square-metre waterfront in the northern Sydney area, the site represents a rare opportunity to regenerate a significant infill site with 300 metres of waterfrontage.

Marina Berths up to 20 metres

With its own state-of-the-art private marina of approximately 36 berths (subject to DA), the project is expected to appeal to boat owners who will have the option of purchasing a marina without having to purchase a property.

Having been disused and closed to the public for several decades, the regeneration of the Putney Wharf Residences precinct is an important restoration project for Putney and is envisaged to become a highly desirable waterfront destination and residential address for local downsizers and upgraders looking for premium lifestyle amenity.

Mr Brown said: “With such a rich boating history having been the home to Sydney’s most successful and prolific boat-building business established in 1939 by the Halvorsen family originally from Norway, we feel obligated to restore, preserve and celebrate the site’s history and to deliver a state-of-the-art mixed-use wharf precinct Sydney’s boating community will be proud of and want to live, dine and socialise here.”

The project will offer a mix of three-storey townhouses and apartments defined by high ceilings and heritage components using original timber beams and other preserved materials, repurposed into the apartments creating stunning character-rich interiors.
