Noosa penthouse breaks Queensland auction record

The Queensland auction record was smashed earlier this month with the $9.8 million sale of a Noosa penthouse.

And the out of state buyer activity in coastal Queensland has showed no signs of slowing down, with a Melbourne buyer securing the keys without physically inspecting the $2,075 a night high season holiday let on the exclusive Hastings Street.

The buyer was taken through a number of times on Facetime, and holidays in Noosa every Christmas with the family. They’ve even stayed in La Mer, the beachfront block, before.

The penthouse has three bedrooms  and its own 240 sqm roof terrace. It last sold for $7.2 million in 2018 when it was trading for the first time since 1991, a few years after the block was built. Then it sold for $1.03 million.

Richardson & Wrench Noosa agent Shane McCauley secured the sale in what is Noosa’s second most expensive apartment sale, only behind the $14 million secured down the road earlier this year when Elisabeth Ring, the cashed-up ex-wife of the Swisse Vitamins billionaire Stephen Ring, bought the penthouse atop Noosa Court.

And the sale breaks the former auction record, set late last year when a Bulimba riverfront sold for $8.4 million.
