Seven of the nine regional WA locations experienced quarterly median house price growth during the December 2020 quarter.  

REIWA President Damian Collins said the reiwa.com data shows eight experienced house price growth compared to the December 2019 quarter too.  

Port Hedland saw the biggest improvement, with its median price increasing to $270,000. 

“This represents an improvement of 9.3 per compared to the September 2020 quarter and 17 per cent compared to the December 2019 quarter,” Collins said.

"Esperance was another strong performer, with its median increasing to $343,000, an increase of 3.9 per cent during the quarter and 9.8 per cent compared to the December 2019 quarter,”  Collins noted.  

Five regional centres saw sales activity increase during the quarter, led by Karratha and Geraldton were the standouts. Sales activity was up 15 per cent in Karratha and 12 per cent in Geraldton during the quarter. 

The other centres to record improvements were Port Hedland (up seven per cent), Albany (up four per cent) and Kalgoorlie-Boulder (up one per cent).  

“Overall, the regional sales markets are showing strong signs of recovery, with mining sectors like Port Hedland and Karratha leading the way,” Collins conclude.

“This is in part due to the commitment by mining companies to keep their workers in WA as they continue to navigate the COVID-19 travel restrictions.”

Meanwhile rental listings declined in seven regional centres during the December 2020 quarter.  

Busselton and Bunbury saw the biggest reduction during the quarter, with listings down 36 per cent and 23 per cent respectively.

With fewer rentals available across regional WA, tenants were having to offer more weekly rent to secure a lease with Port Hedland and Karratha recorded the biggest quarterly increase in rent price, with their median rents up $55 to $550 per week and $50 to $700 per week respectively.

Fremantle Dockers veteran Hayden Ballantyne is yet to sell his Hopeland, WA rural estate.
The <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-wa-hopeland-127863626" target="_blank">25 hectare agistment property</a>, some 50 kilometres south of Perth, has been listed with $1.05 million plus hopes.
It was bought in 2011.
The listing photos give an obvious nod to Ballantyne's ownership, with his framed number 1 jersey in the theatre room, along side memorabilia gathered over his nine year career.

Since his purchase the forward has added a main modern residence, wrapped in a verandah and complete with four bedrooms, separate office and a rumpus room.
There's 32 paddocks with horse rail fencing and an onsite managers cottage for additional farming income.
Ballatyne tried to sell the property before in 2013.
It's for sale through Greg Penn at Realmark Mandurah, who had set an April 15 auction.
Ballantyne was drafted by Fremantle when he was 21 as a second round pick in the 2008 draft.
In late 2016 Ballantyne married his long-term partner Alyssa Hennessy in nearby North Dandalup. They have two children.

Regions with exposure to the resource and mining sectors dominated the list of areas with the highest delinquencies in November 2017, according to Moody's.
Nine of the 10 regions with the highest 30-plus delinquency rates were in either Western Australia or Queensland, and many of these regions are exposed to employment industries directly or indirectly related to mining and resources.

Six of the 10 worst regions — Western Australia Outback, Queensland Outback, Mackay, Western Australia Wheat Belt, Mandurah and Fitzroy — have consistently been among the worst performing regions in the country over the last three to four years.
Among these worst performing regions, Fitzroy recorded the biggest increase in delinquencies over the year to November 2017.
The weighted average current loan to value ratios for the worst performing regions were typically higher than the national average of 63.2%.

Outback Western Australia and Queensland as highest delinquency locations: Moody's

A Baynton four bedroom house has been sold by mortgagees for $590,000.
The West Australian mining town home was sold by the agent Coral Howe from Ray White.
It was on the market for around 180 days initially seeking $650,000.
It had last sold at $205,000 in 2009.
It had been a $1400 a week rental offering in the boom.
Located at<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-wa-baynton-126048282" target="_blank"> 19 Brushtail Street</a>, Baynton, Baynton West Primary School, parks and the Pam Buchanan centre are within a short walking distance. 
It comes with four bedrooms, open living area and a game room. 
Other features include outdoor speakers in the ceiling, stainless steel draws and the heated pool.
The suburb's median house price sits on<a href="https://www.urban.com.au/news/12004-baynton-wa" target="_blank"> $405,000</a>, according to CoreLogic.
There was another four-bedroom mortgagee sale at Baynton last year, sold at <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-wa-baynton-126449486" target="_blank">$417,000</a>.
