The businessman, commentator and former Federal Opposition leader John Hewson and wife Jessica have downsized in the Southern Highlands.
This time last year the couple finally sold Invergworie, their historic nine hectare Exeter estate (below).
 They initially sought $11 million for the grand home in 2010.

Over summer Jessica quietly picked up a 1980s Bowral home, spending $1,815,000 on the 8,010 sqm estate (pictured main).
It has been their recent rental.
The four bedroom home last traded for $1.06 million in 2015 when it was known as Crecy.
It has formal lounge and dining rooms as well as an open plan family room that leads to the paved terrace around the home which sits at the end of a long driveway.
It's a downsize for the couple given the sheer size of their former Southern Highlands home Invergowrie.
The trophy estate was built in the 1930s for the BHP industrialist Sir Cecil Hoskins, with an extensive 2009 refurbishment to the seven bedroom house that has its own library, ballroom, studies and billiard room.
The nine hectare grounds have Paul Sorensen gardens with tennis court, bocce pit, swimming pool, croquet lawn, orchard, vegetable gardens, a Japanese garden with waterfall, aviary and three guest houses.
Designed by architect Geoffrey Loveridge, Invergowie replaced Headlands, which had been owned by the Yates seed family.

John Hewson buys back in the Southern Highlands

The businessman, commentator and former Federal Opposition leader, John Hewson has finally found a buyer for his Southern Highlands listing, Invergowrie.
It was first listed 10 years ago at $11 million.
His Tudor-style Exeter estate was most recently relisted through Mick Maloney, the longstanding local Richardson &amp; Wrench agent, with reduced $6.2 million hopes.
The trophy estate was built in the 1930s for the BHP industrialist Sir Cecil Hoskins, with an extensive 2009 refurbishment to the seven bedroom house that comes with library, ballroom, studies and billiard room.
The nine hectare grounds have Paul Sorensen gardens with tennis court, bocce pit, swimming pool, croquet lawn, orchard, vegetable gardens, a Japanese garden with waterfall, aviary and three guest houses.

Before that the Badgery family had what remains the landmark feature of the village of Exeter.
Hewson and his wife, Jessica Wilson had revised their price hopes down over the years it was on the market.
They married in the ballroom in 2007.
The former Reserve Bank economist and former member for the blue ribbon seat of Wentworth previously owned another Tudor-style Southern Highlands property, Redlands.
Hewson bought Redlands in 1977 for $106,000 and sold in 1985 for $380,000.

John Hewson's Exeter estate Invergowrie finally sold

The former Liberal politician John Hewson sold his redundant Guerilla Bay beachfront, Camp David, after nearly six years on the market to the local boat builder, Eric Simes.
<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-guerilla+bay-106764945" target="_blank">Initially listed for $2 million in August 2010</a>, Hewson accepted $1.7 million, having paid $2 million for the home in 2007.
He bought the home on 4100 sq m from American architect Gerry Green who installed cathedral ceilings.

It sits at the end of a little lane fronting onto Guerilla Bay Beach. Eric Simes and wife Wendy recently sold their 30 hectare lakeside Coila, Eurobodalla holding for $1.7 million.
