A $4.1 million sale in Dee Why’s refurbised 1970s Ala Moana apartment building has set a suburb record.

The 16-17/89 Dee Why Parade apartment created from the amalgamation of two apartments went to auction with a guide of $3.5 million.

It was sold through Peter Mosedale and Phil Feseha, of Upstate.

The sixth floor northeast corner apartment comes with views over the Dee Why Beach, Long Reef Headland and the ocean.

It includes three-car garaging.

One of the apartments had been bought for $285,000 in 1993, with the second costing $1 million in 2006.

CoreLogic suggest the highest previous sale was $2,975,000 in a 2018-built Meriton complex at 15 Howard Avenue.

There was a $2.85 million sale in Oceania, the 2001-built complex on The Strand in 2019, which first sold at $1 million.

Discover Lighthouse, Dee Why’s latest residential addition

Legendary Manly Sea Eagles hardman Anthony ‘Choc’ Watmough and his wife, the former model Elle McLeod, have snappily sold their five-bedroom Dee Why home.
The couple paid $1.73 ­million for the home in 2012, shortly after they got engaged and then wed a year later.
Watmough and McLeod have extensively renovated the three- level home which features a lounge and dining space with a stack stone gas fireplace which opens to a balcony with views.
The views extend over Dee Why Lagoon, Long Reef Headland and out to the ocean.
The third level master retreat comprises an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and its own terrace. There is 410 square metres of space including balconies.
The couple bought the headland home with Elle’s late mum Leona when the extended family numbered six.
Their dream is to now find and renovate a beach cottage which would be home for the couple and their three year old daughter, Jagger, who ent­ered the world seven weeks early, weighing 2.2 kilograms.
Upstate agents Tulo Sila and Eddy Kalnian were marketing the home with a June 1 auction, with 22 groups through the first open.
The Dee Why market has seen a dip in its median prices after realestate.com.au showed the four-bedroom median peak at $1.93 million in 2017.
But the median was just $920,000 in 2012 when the Watmoughs bought on Undercliffe Street.
The couple hoped to get $2.7 million.
Last year the Watmoughs offloaded their nearby investment apartment for $750,000, it having been a $650 a week rental.
Watmough had paid $580,000 in 2013 for the two bedroom unit atop a 1970s block.
Watmough played 278 games for the Sea Eagles, pulling on the NSW Blues jersey 14 times and the national strip on 16 occasions.
He is now behind the Sydney CBD restaurant Cubby’s Kitchen.

Former Manly hardman Antony 'Choc' Watmough sells Dee Why home

A Northern beaches estate agent who went on a $3200 spending spree after stealing a credit card during an open house inspection has failed to have the theft charges dropped due to mental illness.
The 38 year old stole the credit after searching through a wallet in drawers while <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/news/91295-real-estate-agent-charged-over-alleged-open-house-theft" target="_blank">showing people through a Dee Why flat last year.</a>
She used it to buy designer sunglasses, cosmetics and gift cards.
After failing to have the charges dismissed this week, Fitzgerald then pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a Community Corrections Order, The Manly Daily reported.
The purchase were made the same day she hosted the inspection at a unit in Pacific Parade.
Several of the spending offences where captured on CCTV and that a number of the items were found at her home after Northern Beaches Proactive Team officers executed a search warrant.
The Bilgola Plateau based mother of one worked for L.J. Hooker at Dee Why.
She did not attend her first court hearing last year because she was receiving treatment at a private clinic.

Northern Beaches agent pleads guilty to credit card theft from Dee Why open house

Off the plan apartment buyers in the Osprey development in Dee Why will have the bizarre opportunity to have a discount knocked off their purchase.
Buyers of the apartments, which range anywhere from $499,000 to $1,075,000, will spin a lottery-style wheel where they could see up to $100,000 savings on their new apartment.
The wheel has seven segments, one $20,000, three $30,000, one $40,000, one $50,000 and the $100,000 landing zone.

During his 11 year stint at the Sea Eagles he won the 2008 Grand Final against Melbourne Storm, the team they were defeated by in the final the year before.
He spent his final season in the NRL at the Parrmatta Eels where he had to retire because of a career-ending knee injury.

The star NRL Bulldogs recruit Kieran Foran has finalised his springtime property portfolio disposal with the sale of his Dee Why investment apartment.
His two sales yielded around $3.75 million.
He set a $745,000 asking price on the two bedroom investment offering, but got his buyer when the price was lowered to $729,000.

The mixed fortunes in Foran's off-field life returned recently to the public arena following the listing of his Freshwater house last month.
It came with $2.8 million hopes through Ray White Freshwater agents Graham Bennett and Bernard Hachenberg who secured $3,055,000.
It was the home that Foran bought early last year - where his former partner Rebecca Pope and the couple's two children resided during his season playing in New Zealand.
After the for sale sign board went up, an upset Pope told the local paper, The Manly Daily, that she'd viewed it as her "forever" home.
"I wanted to stay here forever," she said.
“It was our dream home with a big block, ideal for our children and two dogs."
A legal battle over the proceeds has begun, with Pope's lawyers lodging a caveat on the home which sits officially just in Foran's name.
The legal paperwork suggested she made "direct and indirect financial and non-financial contributions to the acquisition, conservation and maintenance of the lands".
Foran paid $2.51 million in early 2016.
By the time the home had settled and the family moved in, their relationship was over.

The second rower paid $770,000 for the apartment in the boutique <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-nsw-dee+why-126071890" target="_blank">block of 10 in 2004</a>. It has since been renovated throughout.
It has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a home office.
Spanning 155 sqm internally, the most impressive feature is the 130 sqm outdoor terrace that has lagoon and beach views.
Red Property Manly agent Kerry-Anne Nielsen is marketing the home.
Randall spent his whole 12 year career at the Sea Eagles, racking up 208 games. He won the 1972, 73, 76 and 78 Premierships with Manly before retiring after the 1982 Grand Final loss to Parramatta.
He represented New South Wales on 13 occasions and the Kangaroo's 12.
Randall has been described as one of the most feared defenders to pull on a Manly jersey.
He now runs an excavating business in Dee Why.
