David Lamond: Our building design responds to contemporary life and, in particular, to our society’s changing expectations to residential living within an urban context. We are offering apartments of a size, layout and quality that make a significant contribution to the inner city area, and which also form a key part of our commitment to an integral sustainable development model.  
  U: If a buyer was deciding between Duke Apartments and a similar residential development in the area, what do you think makes Duke Apartments unique and the favourable option?

DL: You own a whole level property – your own private lobby when you step out of the lift in your own apartment. Also high ceilings opening up and letting in so much natural light.

DL: You live in Collingwood – so many options of great coffee (my favourite is from Mr Peel on Peel street) walking distance to the CBD, public transport and restaurants of Smith Street (right around the corner)

U: What was the inspiration behind the design of the development?

DL: We bring a total design-oriented approach to property development 
The design for Duke Apartments, Collingwood, presents an architecturally crafted, small residential development that speaks directly to the context of the site and surrounds, and to its industrial history.

Melbourne apartment of the week: Duke Apartments, Collingwood

In 2017, Melbourne-based architects Joseph Toscano and Dino Pezzutti acquired the prominent Collingwood site at 93 Wellington Street, with a goal of catering to market demand for spacious 3-bedroom homes. With a vision in mind, they founded <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/developers/duke-ventures">Duke Ventures</a> and embarked on their $11 million residential development, Duke Apartments.

Fast-forward to today, the team have commenced construction on the luxury project, and have released an exclusive selection of lavish full-floor apartments for sale.

Natural flow-through ventilation throughout each apartment lowers the reliance on mechanical cooling systems, significantly reducing electricity bills and promoting resident health and wellbeing. A VRV air-conditioning unit is also included within each home to compliment the natural airflow, ensuring optimum thermal control and heat distribution year-round.

All residences include exclusive access to a private elevator and personal lobby, providing residents with the perfect transition from the <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/developments/collingwood-vic">thriving bustle of Collingwood</a>, into their calm home sanctuaries. <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/architects/dp-toscano">DP Toscano Architects</a> have carefully considered the layout of each space within the homes, making allowances for special features including spacious “study nooks”, lavish butler’s pantries and large open-plan living and dining areas.

The interiors have been styled with a muted tonal palette to give buyers the flexibility to customise their home to their taste. Buyers will also have the option of choosing a furniture package upgrade from STYLECRAFT, making the moving process seamless and their home liveable immediately.

<h2>Duke Apartment’s sustainability initiatives</h2>

The design is set to attain a 6.5 Star NatHERS rating for the home's thermal performance and energy efficiency. Duke Ventures are also planning to purchase carbon offsets, install ample bicycle parking, invest in rainwater harvesting, solar power and renewable energy sources to ensure the development complies with the company’s environmental targets. Residents can also buy with confidence knowing that their home has been built using materials which contain low embodied energy and low VOCs where possible.
