OSK Property has appointed construction company Multiplex to deliver the next stage of their $3 billion Southbank precinct, Melbourne Square.

Multiplex, which also built the first two towers in Stage 1 of Melbourne Square, broke ground on BLVD this week and will now commence construction of the 74-level towe. They're expecting to complete the building in Q1 2028.

The milestone comes just nine months after BLVD’s official launch in October 2023.

Having achieved over 50 per cent of sales, construction commencing at BLVD marks another significant moment for Melbourne Square which has already enhanced the Southbank precinct with publicly accessible amenities like a 3,745 sqm park, full-line Woolworths supermarket, an early learning centre and a growing range of retail destinations.

BLVD will deliver much-needed residential stock to Southbank, bringing together 602 residences and offering a host of amenities including private dining rooms, state-of-the-art gyms, a 25m indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna, golf simulator, entertainment and lounge spaces, and a double-storey co-working area on levels 55 and 56.

Beyond its architectural grandeur, BLVD embodies a commitment to sustainability and well-being,  featuring carbon-neutral operation-enabled residences, gas-free design, EV charging stations, a zen garden, other premium resident amenities, and design that’s focused on improving the health and  wellness of residents.

It is also in pre-registration to pursue WELL Certification – a rating system that certifies a building’s  impact on health and wellbeing, and that demonstrates industry excellence in meeting stringent  sustainability goals.

“The BLVD groundbreaking represents a major milestone for the Melbourne Square precinct, which has two existing towers and will also feature a build-to-rent tower alongside the build-to-sell residences”, says OSK Group Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Ong Leong Huat.

"Commencing construction represents the culmination of a team effort between OSK Property and our project partners and our unwavering commitment to BLVD and the entire Melbourne Square precinct.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated staff, esteemed project partners, and diligent sales agents for their incredible work across BLVD to date, and are looking forward to seeing this tower come to life."

Multiplex Regional Managing Director of Victoria and South Australia, Ross Snowball, said Multiplex is proud to be partnering with OSK once again on the Melbourne Square precinct, one of Australia’s largest and most exciting development projects.

“After delivering the first two towers, we are excited to deliver the third tower, BLVD - continuing the same community legacy we started back in 2017," Snowball said.

“Seven years later there is nothing more rewarding than being part of this precinct again, building a residential tower that will enhance our city from the ground up. What’s even more special is that some of those original team members will be back building BLVD."

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony event in person, City of Melbourne Deputy Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece said this was a monumental moment for the city.

Melbourne Square homes give residents access to all that we love about Southbank," Reece said.

“Arts institutions that are second to none. Proximity to the central city and to the beach – to the  Botanic Gardens and, importantly, to community facilities already enjoyed by those who live in Southbank

BLVD will be a transformational development for Melbourne’s CBD, adding critical housing stock to the market as well as important residential and local amenities."

OSK Property and Multiplex celebrated the groundbreaking with a ceremony hosted on-site, which brought together key stakeholders, OSK Property personnel and the Multiplex team.

Elsewhere in Melbourne Square, OSK Property recently unveiled ‘Guardian Lion’ by Troy Emery. The development’s newest captivating public art installation set to grace the skies of Melbourne later this year.
