Construction is well underway at Devitt Property Group's St Kilda Road development, The Muse.

Devitt Property Group, led by industry veteran Peter Devitt, appointed LU Simon, where he is a director and part owner, to handle the build of the 14-level development at 409-413 St Kilda Road, which has been a long time in the making.

Devitt acquired the land 18 years ago with the intention of creating a landmark development. However, the project hit a snag in 2017 when objections from residents in a nearby building raised concerns about its potential impact on the historic Fawkner Park.

Designed in collaboration between Bruce Henderson Architects and Bruce Henderson Interiors, The Muse now comprises just 42 residences across 14 levels, including a double-storey penthouse which hit the market in 2018 with a price tag of $45 million. The penthouse spans over 1,000 sqm and features an additional 190 sqm of terraces, providing views of the bay, city skyline, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The penthouse is a true symbol of extravagance, equipped with lavish amenities and advanced technology. It boasts a self-cleaning toilet from the esteemed Japanese brand Toto, which operates automatically with sensor activation, along with a private swimming pool, billiard room, wine room, gym, steam room, and circadian rhythm lights to aid residents in adjusting after overseas travel.

The Muse will also implement cutting-edge security measures, including facial, fingerprint, and number plate recognition technology. Residents will enjoy hi-tech home automation systems that automatically summon lifts upon entry, control air conditioning, and even prepare the kettle.

Every apartment within The Muse has been designed as though it were a unique home, with handcrafted fittings and an emphasis on luxury and elegance. The architectural inspiration harkens back to the grandeur of New York City and the artistic allure of the 1920's and 1930's jazz age, as well as the sophistication of luxury car designs by renowned brands such as Delage, Delahaye, Packard, and Duesenberg.

The architecture of The Muse reflects a delicate and feminine form, characterised by graceful curves, transparency, and an abundance of light. Circular motifs are a recurring theme, showcased in the floorplans and incorporated into the Paul Bangay landscaping concept. Circular swimming pools, curved island benches in the kitchens, and round baths in the ensuites all add to the sense of timeless luxury.

"A Domain Precinct address places you on the cusp of all that is great and wondrous about Melbourne," Bruce Henderson said of the project.

"It is a lifestyle unlike any other."

Construction is slated to wrap on the development in 2024.
