Bon Yan Group are making significant progress on their latest residential development, Mansard.

The company recently achieved a construction milestone with the completion of site demolition, bringing the highly anticipated development one step closer to realisation.

With its considered design and luxurious amenities, Mansard is poised to become a jewel in Kooyong's architectural landscape.

The 16 apartment development on Toorak Road has been designed by the renowned architects at Carr, showcasing a sophisticated yet timeless architectural expression that honours the heritage character of the Kooyong neighbourhood.

Comprising three built forms and featuring two individual points of entry, the development seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary elements, with the roof of Mansard set to be a defining element of the project.

The Mansard roof, which originated in France, is a four-sided gambrel-style hip roof characterised by two slopes on each of its sides, with the lower slope at a steeper angle than the upper.

The earliest known example of a mansard roof is credited to Pierre Lescot on part of the Louvre built around 1550.

The exterior of Mansard is composed primarily of grey brick and glass, utilising a restrained materials palette that complements the neighbourhood's distinct fabric, coupled with lush vegetation and mature trees that create a connection to nature across the site.

Internally, Carr has designed both a visually striking and highly functional kitchen which features a palette of tactile and organic finishes, centred around a durable travertine island bench.

The open-plan living areas of Mansard is characterised by boundless space, abundant natural light, and thoughtful design elements.

The integrated fireplace is nestled within solid travertine joinery, harmonising with the warm and textured hardwood timber floors, while the floor-to-ceiling windows draw in the surrounding vistas, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living, with the living areas extending seamlessly to expansive wrap-around terraces.
