Celebrity interior designer Tina Chalabian, who first appeared on Channel Ten’s The Renovators, has bought a sub-penthouse apartment in Manly.

The designer paid $2.72 million for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom offering on the Eastern Hill near Manly Cove.

The apartment spans 170sqm of indoor and outdoor living, with two balconies coming off the master bedroom and living area.

It covers half of the top floor of a mid-1980s full-brick block of four set in tropical gardens with shared pool, barbecue plus change room.

Rowe Partners Real Estate agent Jake Rowe and Nathan Tse sold it after having a guide of $2.2 million. It’s the first trade in the block since the same apartment sold in 2015 for $1.76 million.

The next previous sale in the Cove Ave complex was in the 1990s.

Manly’s four-bedroom apartments have ranged from $1.4 million up to $5.8 million this year, according to CoreLogic.

Chalabian first hit the screens as a contestant on The Renovators in 2011, having been working in the design field since 1999.

She established the homewares and interior design service Yellow Room in Cammeray in 2012.
