Riverfront Paradise Waters trophy home sold off market

An architecturally designed Paradise Waters home has been sold off market to a local for a price believed to be above $8 million.

Ray White Surfers Paradise agent Michael Willems managed the sale.

The house at 22-24 Admiralty Drive, Paradise Waters was designed by American architect Edward Larrabee Barnes and originally built for the Matsushita family of Panasonic Electronics.

Other examples of buildings that Barnes designed include the Dallas Museum of Art, Walker Art Centre, and the IBM Building at 590 Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

Barnes’ only Australian house is an example of "linear architecture which is functional yet stylish, providing privacy from the street while maximising wide river views".

Set on 1,351 square metres of riverfront land, it is a five bedroom six bathroom affaiDesign features include large steel beams, wide timber-lined eaves, Carrara marble features throughout in flooring.

Positioned overlooking the expansive water of the six knot zone of Jaraparilla Cove the home also contains an indoor fully tiled saltwater swimming pool as well as a waterside boat shed.
