Veteran radio presenter Neil Mitchell and wife Selina have swapped classic for contemporary in Malvern.

The couple, who have been married since the mid-1980s, have paid $2,462,500 after selling their nearby Clarence Street home which cost $65,000 for in 1978.

They recently sold the home, where they married in the front room, for $2.76 million.

Their newest purchase, with banks of glass and limed oak floors, has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a state of the art kitchen.

A courtyard sits off a dedicated living space, while a private landscaped north-east courtyard opens from the kitchen, living and dining area.

A lift runs from the garage level to the rooftop where there's an entertaining terrace with barbecue kitchen and views to the Dandenongs.

Mitchell has been working at 3AW for over three decades, starting in 1987 part-time on weekends and as a morning fill-in host for former broadcaster Derryn Hinch.

He later became the host of the drive time program.
