The recently released $250 million Masthead Ocean Club on the Gold Coast's Main Beach has been developed to target the premium downsizer.

With locals making up the biggest share of the Gold Coast’s downsizer market in recent years, developers Banda and Rory O'Brien have sought to capture those wanting to live the Main Beach lifestyle.

Sydney-based project marketing agency Highland are handling the sales of Masthead. Highland CEO David Highland said Gold Coasters are taking the lead when it comes to scaling back to focus on lifestyle.

“We’re increasingly seeing buyers selling up large family homes they have owned for years on the Gold Coast and looking to replace them with a large, luxury, low-maintenance apartment that is much closer to lifestyle conveniences and amenities,” Highland said.

“Masthead Ocean Club is clearly a game-changer when it comes to meeting the demands of these buyers. This is a premium development that offers all, if not more, of the amenities and facilities they have in their current home, far exceeding those in any other building every built to date or planned on the Gold Coast.”

Located in a prime position, Masthead Ocean Club sits just a stone’s throw from Main Beach’s premier destinations such as waterways parklands, beaches, and coastline, ticking all the lifestyle aspect boxes for a downsizer.

“Northern Main Beach, where Masthead is positioned, is a quite enclave and perfect for downsizers who want access to everything but don’t want to be in the centre of the fast paced, hustle and bustle of Gold Coast living,” Highland added.

With all this at their doorstep, Masthead Ocean Club leverages its location to offer a seven-star resort experience and ultra-luxe amenities within the development itself.

“Downsizers still want a pool, gym, wine storage and the views they currently have and don’t want to compromise on space. Masthead has all of this,” he said.

“When they’re home, downsizers still like to entertain or accommodate family, so they require multiple living zones and multi-purpose spaces which has all been thoughtfully introduced into every residence at Masthead.

“They may need a home office as they may still be involved in business. Masthead has a versatile multi-purpose room perfect for a study, home office or additional living space."

Privacy and security are also an important factor to downsizers as well as the number of apartments within the building.

Masthead only has 28 apartments, one per floor with no horizontal neighbours.

Highland says downsizers want to be surrounded by like-minded people.

“Masthead residents will have the opportunity to mingle and attend social events together through the partner affiliates associated with the building.”

Masthead will see the delivery of an in-house residents’ only club to be known as ‘The Ocean Club’.

With membership only accessible via a Masthead apartment purchase, the Ocean Club spans two full floors, some 650 sqm, and will feature a sophisticated wine and champagne lounge, whiskey and cigar room, private dining space, coffee bar, sky high library and business meeting areas, all with panoramic ocean, coastal and Hinterland views.

Residents will also have 24/7 access to a health and wellness club with a wet edge pool, spa, steam room and sauna, as well as a state-of- the-art gym and yoga and pilates studios.

Developer Rory O'Brien said no other project in Australia offers residents such extensive private and secure luxury facilities, shared amongst so few people.

“Masthead Ocean Club’s facilities will re-shape the way residents experience their new beachside home and lifestyle,” O'Brien said.

Members will also receive additional benefits from luxury brands including Chairman’s Club membership to Levantine Hill Winery in The Yarra Valley, participation in Newgate’s 2023 racing syndicate, which will also include attendance at select race days in Newgate’s own suite at Randwick Racecourse, and a complimentary new BMW electric car.

“Masthead has certainly been designed to offer a unique lifestyle that is enriched by a sophisticated design, amenities, and social engagement in one of the best locations on the Gold Coast,” Highland said.

“It is truly one of a kind.”
