Resorts and hotels tend to occupy some of the best positions in coastal suburbs. They have long commanded larger budgets compared to residential or retail developments, which command the most sought-after located blocks of land.

That's what makes McDonald Industries' Park Shore development one of the most unique propositions on the Gold Coast. It takes up a prime spot on Labrador Street, having been converted into residential apartments following the redevelopment and refurbishment of the former Sandy Point Resort.

That means amenity is hotel worthy too. There's a full resort-like entry lobby, a large pool with cabana and barbecue areas, and a residents lounge which opens onto the landscaped gardens.

Each of the 45 apartments either take advantage of water views of Broadwater, the rolling sand banks along the estuaries, the lights of the Gold Coast skyline or to the stretches of the hinterland.

Beachfront living

Labrador is known for its beaches that offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as swimming, surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing.

The suburb has several parks and reserves with picnic areas and walking trails, making it the perfect place for nature lovers.

Park Shore residents will be just a three-minute stroll to Labrador Boat Ramp, in addition to Harley Park and Ian Dipple Lagoon, which are located the Broadwater at Labrador, and boast a swimming lagoon, pelicans, picnic facilities and two playgrounds.

If you're even happen to be around the area at lunch time, you may even spot the staff from Charis Seafood feed the local pelicans.

Convenient location

Labrador is located just a few minutes away from Surfers Paradise, Southport, and Brisbane. It's also close to the Gold Coast Hospital and Griffith University, making it an ideal location for students, healthcare workers, and professionals.

As a popular destination for beach lovers, Labrador is home to several sandy beaches, including the Labrador Dog Beach, which is dog-friendly and ideal for pet owners, while there's also a number of parks within walking distance from park Shore, including Pioneer Park and Dux Oval.

Family-friendly environment

Labrador is a family-friendly suburb with excellent schools, parks, and community centres. It's the perfect place to raise children, with plenty of safe and secure playgrounds, childcare centres, and schools.

Plenty of educational opportunities are within a mere stroll of the site, with Labrador Kindergarten and Labrador State School both nearby.

Vibrant Community

Labrador has a diverse and vibrant community with a mix of cultures and nationalities.

The suburb hosts several events and festivals throughout the year, such as the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival and the Gold Coast Show, providing residents with plenty of opportunities to socialise and connect with their neighbours.

There's an array of restaurants and eateries to the south of the site, along Marine Parade, from Seafood to Japanese, along with a number of cafes and bars which are dotted about.

Getting around the coastal suburb

Fortunately, Labrador has a range of transport options available to residents, including public transport, cycling, and driving.

Labrador is well-connected to the rest of the Gold Coast through its public transport system. The TransLink network operates a range of bus routes that service the suburb, including the 704, 709, and 710 buses. These routes connect Labrador to Surfers Paradise, Southport, and other key destinations on the Gold Coast.

Residents looking to travel further afield, the Gold Coast light rail system also services the suburb. The G:link runs from Helensvale in the north to Broadbeach in the south, with stops at key locations along the way, including Griffith University and the Gold Coast Hospital.

Cycling is a popular way to get around Labrador, particularly for short trips and recreational activities. The suburb has an extensive network of cycle paths and shared pathways that provide safe and convenient access to key destinations, including the beach and local parks.

For residents without a bike, there are several bike rental options available in the suburb as well, with the CityCycle scheme providing affordable bike rentals throughout the Gold Coast.

Labrador is well-connected to the rest of the Gold Coast through its road networks also. The suburb is located just off the Gold Coast Highway, which make accessing Surfers Paradise, Southport, and other key destinations a breeze.
