In 2016, Urban.com.au announced the Ballarat Station transformation – today, the development has already completed the first phase of construction and is set to embark on stage two, heading towards its slated completion date of 2020. The Victorian Government and property developers Pellicano are working together to revitalise Ballarat’s central transportation hub, by embracing the area’s local charm and creating a dynamic transport, tourism and community centre.

Stage One of the $51 million development has introduced a 405 space, multi-level carpark for commuters, while Stage Two will see Ballarat welcome a brand new 77-room Quest Hotel. The hotel will be conveniently located a short walk from the train station and neighbouring events plaza. A long-term relationship between Pellicano and Quest apartment-hotel group has seen an impressive portfolio of Quest developments take shape across Australia.

The 1862 building known as ‘The Goods Shed’ will be restored to house 25 to 1,200 square meters of retail outlets, as well as a new Convention Centre, which will add value to the area by providing a cultural hub for the growing community which is expected to rise by 30% in the next 15 years.

“We are seeking an eclectic retail mix, from small businesses to larger national retailers looking to move into the area… We will aim to work closely with businesses to ensure the spaces suit their needs.”

- Nando Pellicano, Pellicano Managing Director

The newly developed precinct will also feature a landscaped plaza which will connect the Goods Shed with the train station, providing an inviting space for public use and a place to host events, makers markets and more.
