A builder has been appointed for Manly’s most anticipated beachfront block, Aurora by developer Royal Far West.

The decision comes after a successful Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, with the Royal Far West Board formally selecting tier one global construction company, Multiplex.

Royal Far West, the charity that provides health and disability services and accommodation facilities to children, is developing its site on the corner of Wentworth St and South Steyne where they currently operate Drummond House. That will undergo renovations to serve as guesthouse accommodation.

The $107 million oceanfront development, designed by Glenn Murcutt and Angelo Candalepas, will house a total of 58 apartments in two buildings, one five levels high and the other eight.

Aurora will comprise one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, above retail and commercial spaces, mixed-use areas, and public domains for the community.

The homes were designed to provide generous living spaces, strategically oriented to the northeast to capture natural sunlight, along with spacious balconies offering optimal views of the surroundings.

The project has already garnered a number of significant sales, one selling for $16 million at a price per square metre record for the suburb at $75,000 per sqm.

There's also been a $14 million sales, and a one-bed which sold for $1.65 million.

Multiplex is set to commence on-site activities in the coming weeks, starting with the installation of perimeter hoardings.

RFW’s Board Chairman, Joan Treweeke OAM, is thrilled to see Multiplex appointed on the
project.

“We believe Multiplex’s track record in delivering some of Australia’s most prestigious projects aligns with the high benchmark demanded by Aurora’s exemplary architectural merit and iconic Manly location, and we know our valued purchasers will reap the rewards of Multiplex’s depth of experience for generations to come,” Treweeke said.

“The development will enable the charity to increase its generous work for country kids in need, as well as future-proof its service for the next 100 years.”

Multiplex’s NSW Regional Managing Director, David Ghannoum, said Multiplex were looking forward to partnering with RFW to deliver the development for the charity, for purchasers and the community.

“We’re delighted to be working with eminent charity RFW. As a significant member of Manly’s community, we understand RFW are cautious custodians of this important beachfront site and we’re grateful they’ve put their trust in us. We have an unwavering commitment to delivering a beautiful quality outcome for the myriad of stakeholders behind this landmark project.”

The demolition phase is scheduled to begin in April 2024, with the anticipated completion of Aurora by mid-2026.
