Landream reveals $900m Pyrmont Place apartments
Landream’s landmark $900 million Pyrmont Place development - the premier residential development in the Blackwattle Bay precinct - has now started taking registrations of interest.
The historic project, borne after years of negotiations, will finally revive the site that was home to the City of Sydney Council’s former depot, giving the area a much-needed facelift and leading the charge in transforming Sydney’s western harbour.
Landream lodged a development application for the project in 2019 which has since been approved. Pyrmont Place also sets the tone for the NSW Government’s ambitious plans to reshape this iconic harbourfront into a thriving urban hub.
Located at 14-26 Wattle Street, Pyrmont Place will deliver 237 apartments. The project’s thoughtful design and integration into the Blackwattle Bay masterplan demonstrate market confidence in the area’s evolution as a vibrant and walkable precinct.
Landream continues to solidify its expertise at residential development having delivered several high-end projects in both Sydney and Melbourne including another complex site in Sydney - the former Coca-Cola building in Circular Quay which was transformed into Opera Residences in 2021.
First in a revitalised precinct
Positioned at the gateway to Blackwattle Bay, Pyrmont Place takes pride in being the first significant private development within the precinct.
Its strategic timing aligns with the Government’s push to rezone Blackwattle Bay while further enhancing the $750 million Sydney Fish Market redevelopment next door. Together, these projects will transform the western harbour into a vibrant residential living, business, and tourism hub.
Market dynamics and job creation
The precinct’s rezoning has created opportunities for residential expansion. Pyrmont Place is perfectly placed to meet the growing demand for city-fringe apartments and mixed-use amenities.
Construction is expected to begin in mid-2025, bringing substantial economic benefits, including hundreds of construction jobs and long-term retail activation.
Seamless integration
Designed by BVN, Pyrmont Place will seamlessly integrate into the area’s evolving character. The four-building development will include a childcare centre, a two-court indoor recreation center, 237 apartments and a range of communal amenities. These include an outdoor pool, gym, music room, communal landscaped terraces and open spaces designed by OCULUS.
Ownership of the childcare centre and the two court recreation centre will be handed back to the City of Sydney.
Public through-site links will connect Jones Street to Wattle Street as well as Wentworth Park Light Rail station, ensuring convenient access to transport options. With proximity to the future Metro West station and ferry routes, Pyrmont Place will be one of Sydney’s best-connected residential hubs.
Architectural excellence meets sustainability
Pyrmont Place has been designed to honour Pyrmont’s industrial roots and sandstone heritage. Each building will feature a distinctive façade, creating a neighborhood vibe that harmonises with the surrounding environment.
Green landscaped communal terraces, integrated plantings, and sustainable design elements will reflect Landream’s commitment to ecological development
A Confidence Boost for Sydney’s Western Harbour
Pyrmont Place underscores Landream’s commitment to Sydney’s future as a global city. The development’s design and timing demonstrate strong market confidence in the western harbour’s evolution into an urban village of global significance.
"Pyrmont Place embodies our vision for creating transformative urban spaces that honour the past while embracing the future," says Harvard Shen, Director at Landream.
"This project isn't just about delivering premium residences – it's about crafting a vibrant community that will become the catalyst for Pyrmont's evolution into one of Sydney's most desirable waterfront neighbourhoods."
