Developer Top Spring Australia nabbed one of the best sites in St Leonards when they secured a 1.2-hectare site across the road from Newlands Park.

When they started to put together the plans for their multi-stage precinct, The Newlands, they already had one of their biggest selling points, the location.

The Newlands, at 21-41 Canberra Avenue, is surrounded by nature. There's parks, ovals, bushland reserves and the Lane Cove River, as well as the convenience of being within walking distance of transport connections, St Leonards shopping and dining precinct and some of Sydney’s best-known schools and healthcare facilities.

"The location offers city convenience and accessibility with a village lifestyle – not to mention opportunities for rest, respite and active exercise,” Top Spring Australia's Managing Director Sydney Ma said.

“Overlooking Newlands Park, with deep generous setbacks from any surrounding roads, The Newlands occupies a prime position in the St Leonards South precinct which forms a key part of the broader St Leonards Crows Nest 2036 revitalisation plan."

Newlands Park, located right on the doorstep of the development, known locally as ‘long slippery dip park’ features a shaded kid’s playground, an off-leash dog area, BBQ facilities, and ample space for recreational activities.

Just across River Road from The Newlands is the entrance to another park that spans from Russell Street to Milray Avenue. Smoothey Park marks the beginning of a network of interconnected bush parks and walking tracks that stretch down to Sydney Harbour.

Connectivity is a key advantage of The Newlands, with St Leonards Station just a seven-minute walk from the development. Alternatively, the Greenwich Ferry Wharf is a five-minute drive away, a commute only those who live or work near the harbour get to appreciate.

“St Leonards is known for its proximity to the quieter suburbs of Wollstonecraft, Greenwich and Waverton, and future residents will benefit from access to the established amenity, from childcare, healthcare and education, to transport, retail and hospitality, as well as the new Crows Nest metro line,” Ma added.

Residents of The Newlands will be close to various shopping options right across from each other, such as BWS, Mall 88, and Coles just a five-minute walk from the property.

Foodies will find themselves spoiled for choice along Pacific Highway, only a ten-minute walk away. An array of cafes and restaurants line the street, including international cuisine from Sekka Dining and Malabar Indian, and coffee from Layers Sydney and Not Bread Alone Restaurant & Cafe.

Families will appreciate the range of reputable schools within one kilometre of The Newlands, including Reddam House, one of Australia's most prestigious educational establishments. There's also Greenwich Public School, North Sydney Public School, Bradfield College, North Sydney Girls High School, North Sydney Boys High School, St Mary's Catholic Primary, and the Australian Catholic University.

Healthcare is within a 15-minute walk away, with Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital next to each other, while the Mater Hospital is just a four-minute drive south of The Newlands.

The Newlands is a brand-new masterplanned community comprising five buildings offering a total of 323 apartments and terrace homes upon completion. Top Spring Australia recently released the second and final stage of the project. The two buildings, Sage and Gaia, will form the heart of the project and will have 112 apartments spread across both buildings.

The Newlands is slated for completion by builder DASCO in September 2025.
