An 1890s landmark Victorian home in Coburg has been sold for more than $3 million to a local family.
Known as Waratah or Manumbar, the five-bedroom house had been listed last year when it had a price guide of $3 million to $3.3 million.
Initially for sale by private treaty, the home was later scheduled for an April 28 auction but sold four days earlier.
Located at 47 The Grove, the home comes with five bedrooms, formal lounge and dining rooms, central living room and open family/meals area, and paved outdoor entertaining area.
It also features open fireplaces with original marble mantels, contemporary and stylish kitchen, and storage spaces throughout.
Positioned on a 986 square metre block, it is surrounded by landscaped gardens.
One of two mirror-image properties in Moreland Park estate, the home has been in the same family for 17 years when it sold for $730,000.
It features a tower with 360-degree views.
The sale of the home was likely to have fallen short of Coburg’s highest residential sale with a house also at The Grove sold for $3.4 million in November 2017, according to CoreLogic.
