David Malouf, the internationally acclaimed author, has sold his long held Chippendale terrace before its weekend auction.
The Myrtle Street home, marketed as the matriarch of the street due to its rare six metre wide presence, sold after it spent 19 days on the market.
It's expected to have fetched around $2.2 million, some profit for the home that cost $175,000 in 1985.
Malouf bought the home the same year he published his memoirs, 12 Edmondstone Street.
The three level terrace behind an updated facade has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
