Gabriel Poole has been designing houses on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland for over four decades.

He is well known for his enlightened, lightweight house designs and innovative use of materials, winning the national Robin Boyd award for domestic architecture in 1991 for an innovative tent house from the Australian Institute of Architects.

Then, in 1998, he was awarded its Gold Medal, its highest honour.

The Poole House, designed in 1962 while still a student draftsman in Robin Gibson’s office, was his first home in Brisbane's Sherwood.

He came renown for using the basic design principles of traditional Queenslanders but looking nothing like them.

Poole designed a home on Seaview Terrace, one of the Sunshine Coast's best streets, which has recently gone under offer.

Adrian Reed and Darren Neal at Reed & Co Noosaville had a $4.3 million guide.

His timeless beach house with a sophisticated aesthetic more recently underwent a redesign from the Brisbane-based interiors outfit, Troupe Studio.

A bank of sliding glass doors appears to bring the pool into the home.

The residence's top level master suite, which opens to a private and vast outdoor terrace facing the beach.
