The former church at 37 Briggs Road, Old Beach has been snapped up.

Carol Brill sold her renovated 1850s church after just five days on the market.

“The quick sale was not a huge surprise, but I knew that it needed a special person who was interested and cared about the history of this property — and the people who are buried here,” she told the local paper.

Ms Brill grew up in Devonport, but was living in Victoria in 2004 when she came back to Tasmania to do some research on her ancestors.

On the way back to the airport, she drove to Old Beach and discovered the Old Beach Wesleyan Chapel, which was for sale.

Old Beach on Hobart’s Eastern Shore is a suburb on the move.

LJ Hooker Hobart sales consultant Jo Harris said the average “days on market” is 38.
