The first homes in Darwin’s newest residential development the heights, Durack, have commenced construction, with residents possibly moving in by Christmas.

The $450 million development by CIC Australia has sold 150 blocks since launching the first four stages over the past 12 months.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome the first builders onto the site and to see the first new homes at the heights, Durack, begin to take shape,” says Geoff Smith, project director of the heights, Durack.

Lots range in size from 303 square metres to 900 square metres.

Remaining lots range from $301,000 to $332,250.

Located 22 kilometres south east of the CBD, the development will include parks, bikes paths, walking tracks and a lakeside community centre.

“We have been working tirelessly on civil construction activities for almost 12 months, so to now proceed to housing construction is a great thrill for us, and most importantly for buyers whose plans are in the process of being brought to fruition,” says Smith.

Some 30 more homes are scheduled to commence construction by the end of the year.

Stages five and six are to be released in the coming months.

The median house price in Durack is $550,000, a 35.5% change in the past five years, according to RP Data.
