Australian MotoGP legend Casey Stoner and wife has Adriana have listed their Sanctuary Cove home, Laguna.

The 30-year-old, who retired as a two time world champion in 2012, are likely buyers of a Queensland acreage.

They paid $4.25 million for the stunning home in 2012, the year he left the sport. They now want $5.5 million to $6 million.

Born in Kurri Kurri, NSW but raised in Southport, he had his first race on the Gold Coast as a four-year-old in an under-nine race.

His parents moved the family to the UK when he was 14 as he pursued his racing career.

Set on 1114 sqm, the striking mansion's five bedrooms each have their own ensuite and walk in wardrobe.

There are three living areas, a home office, rumpus room, home theatre and two outdoor covered entertaining areas, one with built in barbecue overlooking the wet edge pool.

An elevator connects the levels to the 10 car basement.

It offers 40 metre water frontage with deep water mooring.

Listed by Re/Max Regency agents Martin Moolman, the home won the Best Individual Home 2009 from the Master Builders Housing & Construction awards.

After winning the MotoGP World Championship in 2007 and 2011 with Honda and then Ducati, the Sport Australia Hall of Famer walked away from the track at just 27 years old.

He came back to the sport briefly in 2015, racing for HRC at the Suzuka 8 Hours, however he suffered a broken right scapula and a fractured left tibia after a violent crash.

It looked like he would step in for Dani Pedrosa at Repsol Honda later that year for two races, however due to the fact the team did not have a custom bike made for him, Stoner wasn't selected.

In 2016 Stoner returned to the Ducati Corse Team as a test rider for the 2016 MotoGP season, ending his five-year tenure with Honda.

Stoner and Adriana, who have been married since 2007, have a four year old daughter, Alessandra Maria.

They are looking for a lifestyle change, while staying locally, their listing agent advised.

During his MotoGP days Stoner called a rural property near Tamworth his Australian home.

Stoner's parents, Colin and Bronwyn continue to be New South Wales based and have just spent $3.34 million on a motel in the heart of Tamworth.
