Bayview's La Joie de Vivre, the original Bachelor house, is back for sale
Title TattleDecember 7, 2020

La Joie de Vivre, the Bayview mansion that was the first house to be used on Australia's The Bachelor, has been listed for sale.

The larger-than-life home was where chiropractor Tim Robards found love with Anna Heinrich.

The grand Minkara Road home last traded for $7.05 million in 2016 when it was sold by retired transport magnate Greg Poche and his wife Kayvan.

They made a substantial loss on the property, having paid $10 million back in 2003.

The current vendors are freight tycoon Clive Thomas and wife Lee, who were moving to Sydney where their company, C.T. Freight is headquartered.

When it sold in 2016, the then selling agency RED Property donated their $141,000 commission to charity.

The vast French provincial-style mansion is inspired by the grand chateau's of the Loire Valley.

La Joie de Vivre sits on a private 4,090 sqm landholding with views across Pittwater to the ocean from its three levels and its sandstone terraces.

It is appointed with 24-carat gold filligree balustrades, parquet floors and arched French windows.

The home has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a six car garage, a library, home gym and a temperature controlled wine cellar and tasting room.

Outside there's a commercial grade kitchen, resort-style pool, championship tennis court and a guest cottage.

Christie's International agent Darren Curtis is marketing the home as one of the Northern Beaches grandest residences.

Curtis is pointing to other local sales:

6 Captain Hunter Road $10.8m

6 Cabarita Road $12.95m

76 Hudson Parade $12m

1740 Pittwater Road $10,98

1792 Pittwater Road $9.25m

1756 Pittwater Road $7.75m
