Australia 108, to be home to the highest residences in the southern hemisphere, will commence construction this month, with a ground breaking ceremony held December 8 to mark the milestone.

When completed in 2020, the $1 billion tower will rise 319 metres and feature 1105 apartments as well as what's billed as the most extensive and opulent residential amenities in Australia, including two infinity pools located 210 metres above ground.

About 60% of the Australia 108 buyers are thought to be intending owner occupiers. The split between offshore and local buyers sits at around 50:50.

It was designed as a sister tower to the nearby gold-topped Eureka Tower.
