Urban’s three favourite things about Canvas, 272 Barkly Street, Brunswick
- Sustainable living in the heart of Brunswick.
- Within walking distance to everything you need!
- Spacious apartments with communal opportunities to meet your neighbours.
Comprised of award-winning developers ID_Land, architects Rothelowman and interior designers Hecker Guthrie created Canvas – adding another piece of the mosaic to Brunswick.
The inner city suburb of Brunswick is enhanced by the merging of cultures, creating a great place to live. Canvas is just a short walk from nearby trams, trains and bike paths, as well as Princes Park and Brunswick Baths pool and gym facilities. Be situated just down the road from Melbourne CBD, with its premium endless dining, entertainment, and education opportunities.
Creativity, sustainability, design and community are all parts that make up the frame for the Canvas apartments. Each of the 62 apartments has been designed with these four pillars in mind.
The Canvas apartments, Brunswick is a place where families, couples and individuals can congregate to create a collective home. A blank canvas, ready to be decorated with all the colourful strokes of community life.
Sculptural in design and structural in form, Canvas’ façade pays homage to Brunswick’s industrial past. Formed by concrete construction and urban design principles, the visual grid spans the building, framing each apartment. Reinterpreting the industrial regeneration of Brunswick, Canvas is cut to fit into the mosaic of Barkly Street.
The floor-to-ceiling windows provide connectivity to Melbourne, casting light on the timber floorboards. The synergy between the neutral interior colour palette and the industrial façade creates a collision of modern and warmth in one symbiotic aesthetic. The grid flows through each apartment intersecting and marrying the open-plan living.
Functional storage design and clever layout are found within the kitchen, set within clean European oak joinery where the Fisher & Paykel appliances provide aspiring chefs with the essential tools. Terrazzo tiles and matte black tapware add a unique touch to the kitchen and bathroom. So too does the olive green or matte white mosaic tiles within the shower. The understated interiors flowing through each floorplan are a testament to design simplicity.
Sustainable living is made easy, with no gas connection to any apartment, making them 100% fossil fuel free. Each unit has Fisher & Paykel induction cooktops and energy efficient appliances.
The rooftop communal spaces provide a work from home space, a quiet corner with a good book, or a stunning view whilst entertaining family and friends. This residents only area hosts communal garden spaces, collects rooftop rain water and is offset by solar.
