The Avalon Beach restaurant space that cafe queen Jackie Milijash bought just before her death last year is being sold by the administrators of her estate.

The beloved restaurateur and business woman paid $1.95 million for the Old Barrenjoey Road commercial property with a view to opening a new establishment.

She renovated the existing restaurant and bar premises to make a functioning space for the next few years, with the intention of eventually redeveloping the site.

Ian Halliday from BKH had drawn up the concept drawings for a commercial/residential development.

Lara Rowell at Fine & Country Avalon Beach has set an April 8 auction date.

Milijash was credited with helping create Sydney's cool cafe culture when she launched Jackies in Bondi in 1989.

Now operated by former staffer turned foodie Myles Davis, who's back from the London cafe scene, overseen by her mother, Janina, Jackies Cafe in Paddington remains a favourite of the likes of A-listers Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman and Naomi Watts.
