A development site in Botany with approval for 35 self contained accomodation rooms and four commercial shops has been listed for $5.5 million.

It's the site of the 1911 built Finnie's Buildings at 1094-1098 Botany Road.

The construction of Finnie's Buildings provides evidence of the retail infrastructure that was necessary to support the needs of the growing residential population by the turn of the 20th century.

The retail space has been mixed over its near 110 year old history. It's been called home by the likes of a butchers, chemist, bank, sporting goods store and a hairdresser.

It is currently made up of three retail shops with an office and three apartments upstairs, netting in total $151,275 per annum.

There's development approval to convert the building in to 35 self-contained rooms designed by Giles Tribe Architects.

The retail space will be expanding to four shops. There will parking for 13 cars and seven motorbikes, but no basement parking.

NG Farah agent Martin Farah is marketing the development site in conjunction with Century 21 agent Andrew Duignan.
