A new home construction in Port Adelaide has marked its dirt-breaking.

The Dock One masterplanned community will feature about 750n townhouses and apartments, as well as hotel rooms, across a 10.2-hectare land area.

The first stage will include 78 townhouses and 33 apartments.

Future stages will include a boutique retro hotel with 90 rooms and 5000 square metres of green parkland.

Starfish Developments’ Managing Director Damon Nagel said groundworks are already completed and Civils are on track at Dock One, with slabs to be poured this week for the first townhouses.

“This key stage of development is not just significant for Dock One and for Port Adelaide, it’s a real show of confidence for all South Australia to know that rejuvenation of the Port, and the last undeveloped dockland in Australia, is finally underway,” Nagel said.

City of Port Enfield Mayor Claire Boan said she was excited by the new vibrancy emerging at Port Adelaide and welcomed the contribution made by Dock One.

“(Dock One) will help bring more businesses to the Port, attracted to the area due to the extra accommodation that will be available to people. So bring on extra people into the Port, continue to bring it back to life .... we’re starting to bring the Port alive and you guys are part of that with us so thanks very much,” said Boan.
