<p>Marriott International Inc. has announced it has signed an agreement with Greaton Group, to bring Westin Hotels &amp; Resorts to South Australia.</p>
<p>The Westin Adelaide (pictured above) is set to open in 2022 as part of a redevelopment of the iconic Adelaide General Post Office (GPO) building.</p>
<p>The hotel will join the Westin brand’s rapidly growing portfolio in Australia, where its footprint is set to double in the next five years with hotels opened in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and forthcoming in Brisbane, Darwin and Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.<br> <br>Richard Crawford, the Senior Director Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Marriott International said the brand is enjoying phenomenal growth across Australia and in the Pacific.</p>
<p>"We’re on track to have 50 open hotels by 2020.”<br> <br>Located at the corner of King William and Flinders Streets, in the heart of Adelaide’s Central Business District, The Westin Adelaide will be housed in the Adelaide GPO.</p>
<p>The hotel will be housed in a 15-storey tower, with all 285 guestrooms offering views of the city skyline and Victoria Square. </p>
<p>The hotel will hold more than 310 square meters of meeting and event space, as well as a 24-hour business center.  <br> <br>“Expanding the Westin brand into Adelaide is important strategically, as the city is enjoying great growth and development, which isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, and visitor numbers are at a record high and are on track to increase by 5.1 percent in the next ten years,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Marriott International, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.</p>

Westin Hotels headed to Adelaide South Australia

<p>Sekisui House have secured approvals for Westin Coolum, the first five-star resort developed on the Sunshine Coast in more than three decades.</p>
<p>The Sunshine Coast Council has signed off on the seven-storey Westin Coolum Spa and Resort after alterations to the Yaroomba Beach proposal.</p>
<p>The 220-room Westin hotel, along with the larger resort comprising 148 serviced apartments, 753 residential apartments, 98 two- to three-storey homes and a 2,770sq m retail village will be on a .the 19-hectare site.</p>

<br>The Westin Coolum Resort &amp; Spa will be a five minute drive north of the Sunshine Coast Airport, which offers direct flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, and which has just received State government approval for the addition of a new international runway to be completed by 2020.</div>

Sekisui secure approvals for Westin Coolum

<p>The Westin Sydney hotel has been sold to a joint venture between Singaporean developer Far East Land and the Hong Kong-listed Sino Land Company for $445 million.</p>
</div>
<p>The Far East Organisation has purchased more than $1 billion of Australian real estate since the beginning of last year.</p>
<p>The GIC-owned Westin Sydney, at 1 Martin Place, is a five-star hotel with 414 rooms.</p>
<p>JLL and Colliers International were marketing the hotel which GIC purchased at $160 million in 2002.</p>
<p>Singapore’s Government Investment Corporation had <span style="line-height: 1.3em;">reported hopes of more than $400 million for the five star hotel.</span></p>
