Mirvac are teaming up with the multi-award winning Smart Design Studio to bring a collection of terraces to the rapidly expanding Green Square Town Centre.&nbsp;

Portman St Terraces by Mirvac will introduce seven limited edition terrace homes to the leafy Portman Street, forming a contemporary extension to the Victorian-era terraces and cottages that have endured since the 19th century.

Displaying the signature white on white that has become synonymous with the William Smart led studio, the Portman St Terraces will benefit from their own street address and entry, in addition to a lift from the secure basement parking and a rooftop entertaining deck, complete with an outdoor kitchen and flexible family room.

“There was a sense of creating something quite grand and luxurious but with an understated approach to luxury,” Smart said.

“Something that would feel on trend now and in 30 years. It’s more about the precision of the detailing and quality of the materials and the way they work together.”

The terrace homes will deliver open plan living on the ground level, with four-bedrooms spread across two levels. The kitchens will feature timber joinery and large format stone benchtops, as well as Gaggenau appliances, connecting to timber wall panelling in the living and dining areas.

“The colour palette is also pared back; where Victorian terraces typically favour high contrast, we were interested in exploring a subtle and harmonious combination of materials and colours."

In a further break with Victorian tradition the terraces will be light and airy, with courtyards both in the front and back, along with a central sculptural staircase that funnels light through the building to the rooms on every level.

Mirvac General Manager of Residential Development NSW, Toby Long said the opportunity to own a Smart-designed, Mirvac terrace home in a neighbourhood where new construction tends towards apartments not houses, would satisfy the interest from buyers in search of high-end homes at Green Square.

“Green Square Town Centre has become a magnet for people in search of a luxury designer home where they can enjoy the urban buzz and still be close to the CBD,” said Long.

“The demand for three and four-bedroom residences at The Frederick, a collaboration with Smart Design Studio and Mirvac Design, has been extraordinary. We had the same experience with Portman on the Park and Portman House, a CO-AP and Mirvac Design collaboration, which led to a number of apartment amalgamations to form larger residences.”

“Our Green Square properties have been selling extremely well, signalling the strength of the owner occupier market and the growing appeal of this neighbourhood to those seeking a high end luxury home,” Long added.&nbsp;

While details of the Portman St Terraces have been kept under wraps before the official marketing launch, word of mouth has led to a steady stream of inquiry which has come as no surprise to Long.

“William Smart is one of Australia’s most celebrated architects,” he said.&nbsp;

“We have partnered with Smart Design Studio on several previous projects, including Maxwell Place at Harold Park and The Moreton at Bondi, and The Frederick, which is now under construction.”
