Shane Warne's Brighton trophy home passed in at weekend auction

The retired cricketer Shane Warne is officially seeking to secure another profitable property flip in bayside Melbourne at pre-Easter auction.
The legendary spinner has listed his Brighton home with a guide of $6.8 million to $7.4 million.
It would see the King of Spin turn a tidy profit, albeit not quite the $8 million he was rumoured to be seeking last year.

Warne paid $5.4 million for the contemporary French Provincial-style double storey home just less than two years ago.
It was bought from private investigator Anthony Thompson, who had bought it from Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd and his wife, Lisa Marie.
Warne has updated the five bedroom home with a nightclub style bar.

There’s Miele kitchen appliances and Calacatta benchtops, plus a basement room for a gym or children’s retreat.
There’s an auto-clean pool and spa.
There's been no formal reason behind the listing through JP Dixon Brighton agents Jonathan Dixon and Chris O'Farrell.
It is going to be put to April 4 auction.
He's rumoured to have bought into the Saint Moritz apartment complex at St Kilda, which is still a way off completion.

Warne has regularly traded up and down on the Brighton property scene, and made a handsome profit trading homes.
It started in 1996, when a 27 year old Warne, who was already four years in to his Test career, first bought in the affluent suburb.
He spent $902,000 1920s home which was sold for $2.61 million after renovating four years later when he upgraded to the trophy home, Melville, which he's actually owned twice.

The home, <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-brighton-122622586" target="_blank">32 Middle Crescent Brighton</a>, is a single-level Victorian mansion, features a fully tiled auto-clean pool and spa, mod-grass tennis court and four car garaging within its formally landscaped 3014sqm grounds. 
A bedroom wing has a poolside master domain and an entertaining zone set beyond a central water-feature courtyard.
The listing is being handled by Harcourts in Brighton agent Chris Bevan inconjunction with JP Dixon.
Warne with ex-wife Simone Callahan sold Melville for $8.8 million in 2007 to locals who <a href="/news/53581-melville-shane-warne-s-former-brighton-home-not-he-market" target="_blank">on-sold to the current vendors for $10.1 million in 2009</a>.
The celebrity couple had paid $3.6 million for Melville in 2000 reportedly spending that amount again on a major renovation and extension.
A latest mystery buyer is understood to have parted with $14 million plus according to the Herald Sun.
The house was first listed for sale in late 2014 through JP Dixon, Brighton, but was taken off the market late last year.

There's been recent speculation Shane Warne bought back his former Brighton mansion, Melville (above) for $14 million plus, with his McLuskys Lawyer's conveyancing paperwork now confirming his August 3 acquisition.
The Herald Sun reported the spin king's redundant Brighton home came with price hopes of $5 million to $6 million.
The house has been restored since his purchase in 2014.
The Herald Sun reported JP Dixon director Jonathan Dixon completed the secret resale to Warne, but would not comment on the details. The sale took place when Warne was in the UK on his cricket commentary commitments.
His agency has Warne’s Kinane Street home, Camden (below) for sale.

The four bedroom manor, modelled on a Mediterranean villa (above), has been bought by Lyn Watson who has been known to be seeking such a home. Warne bought it from IMG's Australian head, Martin Jolly, for $3.95 million in 2014.

The spin king reportedly paid about $5.5 million for his new Melbourne home, according to Domain and the Herald Sun.
It was the home of AFL Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd for almost 10 years.
Lloyd sold the lavish five-bedroom property to private investigator Anthony Thompson for $4.2 million in 2015.
The recent off market sale was something of a familial cricket deal as Thompson is the father-in-law of Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram who married Shaniera Thompson, whom he had met while on a visit to Melbourne in 2011 while participating in a poker tournament at Crown Casino.
Warne's recent circa $20 million sale of Melville made a nice profit on that property, after paying $14,249,999 to buy it back in August 2016, CoreLogic records show.
It was the second time Warne had sold the 1880 bluestone mansion on a 3014sq m block.

The paperwork that has emerged so far does not show the sale price.
