Preliminary works commence today on the brand new $25 million Orange Sports Precinct thanks to the NSW Government.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the NSW Government is delivering on its election commitment to provide brand new sporting infrastructure to the people of Orange with geotechnical engineers today drilling the first holes in the ground to commence construction.
“Last year I stood up in Orange and promised a $25 million sports precinct for the community, and today we are delivering on that promise and putting shovels in the ground,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I am proud to announce that preliminary work has officially begun on the purpose-built facility which will include cricket and multipurpose ovals, an athletic field and track with covered seating and a rugby union and league field with grandstand and seating mounds to sit 8,500 fans.
Mr Farraway said the NSW Nationals in Government made this commitment at the election and have stayed true to their word.

“The NSW Nationals in Government have delivered on their promise and today commenced preliminary work to make this $25 million sporting dream a reality, right here in Orange,” Mr Farraway said.
“The delivery of this election commitment will drive business, tourism and dollars directly into the Central West.”
The NSW Government is investing $25 million for the Orange Sports Precinct, Orange City Council will deliver the project and Council aims to have the first stage of the project complete by late 2021 with the main field and grandstand due to be completed by 2022.

Quest Apartment Hotels' in Orange opens its doors

A 613 hectare farmmestate near Orange has sold for record $7.8 million to Sydney buyers.
Named <a href="https://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/property/the-bridge-2032-the-escort-way-orange-nsw-2800-2013638554" target="_blank">The Bridge</a>, the estate is a highly productive and pasture improved property 15 minutes from Orange, at Borenore.
It last traded at $3.26 million in 2006.
There was an auction campaign last October which was postponed.
It has double frontage to Boree Creek and its own spring fed creeks.
The 2009-built home spanning an internal area of over 550 sqm has five bedrooms and a home office.

The property was destocked in February 2017.
Michael Wright at Peter Fisher Real Estate said the sale was above the expected $7 million price.
There were 16 bidders with several who bid over the $7 million mark.
Wright said he has 15 buyers looking for property in the Orange region.

The Bridge near Orange sells for $7.8 million

The $8 million Orange Regional Museum has been unveiled by Australian architecture firm CRONE, following its completion in November. Covering 1,300 sqm, the museum also houses an exhibition space, visitor information centre, café and council office space.
The firm won a competitive tender process in 2013, based upon a preliminary sketch of the team’s vision of the project, which tied together the new museum, an existing library and art gallery to create a civic square and public space.
Today, the museum hosts temporary and permanent exhibitions on a variety of themes including settlement of the region, mining, the built environment, agriculture, migration, significant events and individuals from the local area.

Intended as a flexible space it can be used for a variety of functions including outdoor exhibitions or simply an area for visitors to relax.
“We are extremely proud to deliver this contemporary designed building for Orange, which forms an integral part of the community’s civic fabric,” remarked CRONE associate, Ashley Dennis. 
“When designing the museum, we were confident the contemporary design of the building would be embraced by the local community and be reflective of the culture that Orange represents today,” she said.
A key feature of the design is the grassed roof, which rises from the existing lawn, to provide a public green space and new vantage point across the city of Orange. Intended as a flexible space, it can be used for a variety of functions including outdoor exhibitions.

CRONE design director Niall Durney added that the business was drawn to the project for its opportunity to create a forward thinking design that would contribute to the community and create a new destination for the area. 
“As our first regional design project, it also ties into the new direction for the company to diversify beyond commercial buildings,” he said.

Orange mayor John Davis OAM commented that the way the Orange community has already embraced the new museum building is a sign of the quality of its design.
