LJ Hooker Double Bay director Bill Malouf has selected Canberra country girl Tahnee Barnes as his million dollar intern.
The 28 year old, who currently works in recruitment, beat nearly 200 hopefuls for the coveted <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/news/66987-interns-sought-in-job-offering-with-lj-hooker-s-bill-malouf" target="_blank">three month internship</a>.
“I am completely blown away to be named LJ Hooker’s Million Dollar Intern, I wanted it so badly but to actually have won is just amazing,” she said.
Malouf said Barnes stood out across all sections.
“From the start, Tahnee caught our attention, her video submission was well-thought out, and while she came across slightly nervous, you couldn’t help but feel her presentation was sincere.
"As the other videos began flowing in, we always used Tahnee as a benchmark,” he said.
"She received near perfect scores across all sections."
Barnes grew up on a farm in Crookwell in rural New South Wales.
She will spend three months shadowing Malouf, one of the highest profile agents in the industry.
Barnes will get an insight into every aspect of running a real estate business, from property management, sales, administration and management.
On top of the three month internship, Barnes will receive an AUDI car for the duration, a new business wardrobe and business cards.
Barnes spent 10 years in the military including deployments in Afghanistan and East Timor.

Tahnee Barnes wins LJ Hooker Bill Malouf's million dollar internship

The successful candidate will win a three-month, paid position. The position is open to all Australian citizens aged 18 and over who have worked in real estate for less than 24 months or not at all.
Bill Malouf has been named LJ Hooker's annual World Champion Salesperson 15 times. He said  he is very excited to have the chance to unearth the brightest new talent for real estate in Australia.
“I’m looking for someone with the hunger to make this a life-changing experience," he said.
"They may have just finished school, are relatively new to real estate, or have the drive to change careers and succeed in real estate.

The Million Dollar Intern might also come from out of left field: they could be a chef from Adelaide, a deckhand from North Queensland, an electrician from Perth or a graphic designer from Melbourne. If they have the drive to be the best, it doesn’t really matter what their background is.
“I expect them to put in the same hours as my team because real estate is about customer service, and when someone entrusts to you their valued possession, you have to honour that trust.
“Sometimes the most inconvenient time for my team is the most convenient time for their customers.”
