Australia is in the midst of a tradie shortage in years with many home owners unable to find anyone qualified to complete their home improvement jobs, according to ServiceSeeking.com.au
On average, jobs listed on ServiceSeeking.com.au receive four quotes, however, there are a number of specific categories that aren't getting filled.
The website noted apprenticeships are now at their lowest since 2004, according to figures released by the Mitchell Institute. 
"This gap in the market offers a great opportunity for tradies looking to grow their business," Jeremy Levitt, CEO of ServiceSeeking said.
"The few tradies that do work in these industries are never short of work and charge premium prices as customers grow desperate to get them done."
The percentage of niche jobs in FY17 with no tradies:

Tradie shortage means some jobs go wanting

Homeowners throughout the New South Wales and Queensland coastal areas have already begun making repairs following the storms that ravaged the coast over the weekend, with the number of repair job requests increasing dramatically over a four day period.
Data from <a href="https://hipages.com.au/" target="_blank">hipages.com.au</a>, a website to find and hire tradies, has revealed that demand for roof repairers, tree felling services, waterproofers and guttering services, increased at an astonishing rate between Friday June 3 and Monday June 6.  
Record spike in job requests in NSW and QLD (June 3-6 by job):
<ul>
<li>Roof repairs in NSW increased by 1015.15 percent</li>
<li>Roofing in NSW increased by 302.7 percent</li>
<li>Waterproofing in NSW increased by 322.22 percent</li>
<li>Gutter cleaning in NSW increased by 188.24 percent</li>
<li>Roof repairs in QLD increased by 211.76 percent</li>
<li>Roofing in QLD increased by 166.67 percent</li>
<li>Retailing wall installations in QLD increased by 57.14 percent</li>
</ul>
The largest spike in job requests has been for roof repairs. Jobs in NSW and Queensland (June 3-6 by region):
<ul>
<li>Requests in Parramatta increased by 2400 percent</li>
<li>Requests in Sutherland increased by 2000 percent</li>
<li>Requests in North-Western Sydney Suburbs increased by 1700 percent</li>
<li>Requests in Inner West Sydney Suburbs increased by 1350 percent</li>
<li>Requests in Western Sydney Suburbs increased by 925 percent</li>
<li>Requests in Gold Coast increased by 1500 percent</li>
</ul>
In addition to the home repairs, NSW saw an increase of 200 percent in emergency related jobs, including electricians, tree fellers and window repairs over the course of four days.
“While many are still reeling from the devastating storms, we’ve seen a lot of Aussies starting to make the necessary repairs to their homes and businesses,” said Roby Sharon-Zipser, hipages co-founder and COO.
“Finding a tradie can be extremely difficult when there is a surge in demand like the past weekend, but we’re working hard to match customers to the best local tradies. Our teams are managing this increase in demand to make the recovery process as simple and easy as possible.”
