<p>Broad Construction have won the contract to deliver the $140 million development of Ferny Grove Central in Brisbane's north-west.</p>

<p>Broad Construction, a subsidiary of CPB Contractors and part of the ASX-listed CIMIC Group, look set to commence construction of the project, which will turn the Ferny Grove Railway Station precinct into a vibrant suburban Transit Oriented Development (TOD) with a range of residential, retail and entertainment, by May this year.</p>

<p>Construction of Ferny Grove Central is expected to take 28 months with completion set for late 2023.</p>

<p>The TOD is being developed by the Townsville-based Honeycombes, in partnership with their financier MaxCap. The project has been in the planning phase for the past seven years.</p>

<p>The Ferny Grove project will comprise a 12,000 sqm retail centre with a new multi-level parking facility for retail customers and commuters. There will be 82 apartments and a recreational deck for residents in the residential building known as The Fernery.</p>

<p>CPB Contractors said it was pleased to be working with the Honeycombes Property Group on the landmark urban redevelopment.<br><br>
“The experience of our team means that we have the capability to provide safe and certain delivery to our clients. Broad’s inclusive procurement strategies will also provide opportunities for local workers and businesses," CPB Contractors managing director Jason Spears said.</p>

<p>Broad have a reputation primarily across Queensland and Western Australia for their commercial developments. In Queensland they transformed 155 Queen Street Mall and 170 Queen Street Mall in to multi-use developments, as well as the 14 storey office tower The Annex.<br><br>

Ferny Grove Central comes off the back of the company’s award-winning $252 million redevelopment of Coorparoo Square situated along Brisbane’s CBD eastern fringe. Coorparoo Square, built on the site of Queensland’s first Myer building, featured 366 residential apartments and retail space which was delivered over three stages in partnership with Frasers Property Australia. </p>

Broad Construction win $140 million mixed-use Ferny Grove Central contract

<p>Roborigger, an innovative lifting device that allows riggers and dogmen to control loads wirelessly from a safe distance, is now being used by construction giant Multiplex.</p>
<p>The innovative automated product, developed by TENSA Equipment, is currently being used on Mutliplex's latest project, the New Museum for Western Australia.</p>
<p>The Roborigger device, the first of its kind to be used on a commercial construction site, uses inertial forces to accurately rotate and orient crane loads, eliminating the need for workers to use taglines or to be in close proximity to the load during the lifting and lowering phases.</p>
<p>It features an in-built camera and load cell and incorporates a tracking system so every piece of data on a lift, including an image of the load, weight, location, time and date, and the unit states, can be viewed online in real-time.</p>

<p><span>TENSA has been developing the Roborigger technology since 2016 and Multiplex has supported this as an industry partner since 2017, coordinating Roborigger trials on commercial sites and providing user feedback.</span></p>

<p>“It’s exciting to see Roborigger successfully in action with the initial trial meeting all of our expectations. We’ve already expanded the trial to other sites in WA, with plans to roll out Roborigger on a number of Multiplex sites nationally,” Flecker added.</p>
<p>TENSA mnaging director Derick Markwell said TENSA initially developed the technology to address the challenging task of installing wind turbine blades when the wind was greater than the current limit of 12 knots.</p>

New lifting device Roborigger to improve crane safety

<div>Mr Darren Brusnahan, head of funds management for IIG real estate, said the commercial buildings would set a new high water mark for environmental sustainability and provide exceptional amenity as office accommodation for a new breed of Collingwood workers and would include collaboration areas.</div>

<div>He said Northumberland is targeting a 6-star Green Star Design and As-Built Rating and a 5-star NABERS Energy Rating.</div>

<div>“As well as being one of Melbourne’s most environmentally friendly buildings, it will be an exceptional place to work with significant flexibility for workplace configurations,’’ said Mr Brusnahan.</div>

Aesop set for Collingwood architectural gem

<p>M&amp;L Hospitality, the Singapore-based real estate investment group, are to build hotel accommodation in Sydney’s Central Business District hotel accommodation with the commencement of its new hotel development at 65 Sussex Street.</p>
<p>Multiplex has been appointed to deliver the hotel due for completion in Q4 2017.</p>
<p>Designed by Architects Fitzpatrick + Partners, the unique mid-scale hotel property will be an eight level tower with a distinctive geometric facade, 182 guest rooms including 4 suites, an internal courtyard, meeting space, restaurant and bar.</p>
<p>David Ghannoum, Regional Managing Director NSW at Multiplex, said the company was excited to deliver another new hotel to Sydney’s CBD off the back of its successful redevelopment of 161 Sussex Street Sydney for M&amp;L Hospitality.</p>
<p>The second project for M&amp;L Hospitality, Multiplex is currently completing the final phase of M&amp;L Hospitality’s AUD $250 million redevelopment of 161 Sussex Street Sydney, which is set to be rebranded as the Hyatt Regency Sydney on 1 December 2016.</p>
