The Melbourne developer Buxton Projects has secured a permit to go ahead with a new townhouse development in Melbourne's bayside Brighton.

They were supported by Bayside City Council at a VCAT hearing to be allowed to create the nine bedroom townhouse project on an amalgamated 1,463 sqm site.

In 2019 the team spent $4.6 million on an amalgamated 1,463 sqm site at 444 St Kilda Street Brighton and 40a Head St, Brighton which they bought for $4.6 million in 2019.

The $7 million development, designed by NTF Architect in landscaped surrounds by Jack Merlo, will comprise nine three bedroom, two level townhouses, each with private basement car parking.

The Urbis town planning report suggested the development presents a unique opportunity to create a distinct gateway to the City of Bayside.

"The townhouses provide a high level of internal amenity which will create a high end finished product."

Find out which developer is behind Brighton's newest townhouse development

Buxton Projects have secured approval for a new $22 million apartment development in Toorak.

At the start of last year, bought in a company directed by the Buxton property development patriarch Michael Buxton, paid $12.55 million for two adjoining Malvern Road homes, one a single storey brick home with swimming pool and pool house, the other a two level rendered brick home with swimming pool and tennis court

The amalgamated 2,727 sqm site at 1093-1099 Malvern Road will be home to a four-storey apartment development after Buxton recently received sign off from Stonnington Council.

There will be 22 three bedroom apartments and 46 car spaces in the Conrad Architects-designed building, set in Jack Merlo Design &amp; Landscape gardens.

“The proposed apartments will afford a high level of internal amenity for future residents with functional dwelling layouts, appropriate outlooks and private open space, and good levels of daylight access,” the Urbis report noted.

All apartments have a generous floor plan accommodating three bedrooms, with at least one bedroom comprising a walk-in-robe and ensuite, a large open plan living, kitchen and dining area and a separate laundry/butler’s pantry.&nbsp;

The six ground floor apartments will all have a large outdoor living space with their own built in barbecue. There will be seven apartments on the first level, six on level two and just three on the top level.

“The proposal has been carefully designed by Conrad Architects to produce a modest contemporary development”, the report noted.

The design has incorporated two distinct built forms, separated by a central framing element to Malvern Road to ensure there is not one singular building plane.

&nbsp;To the east and west, the built form is broken up into three sections to limit the visual bulk to the adjoining properties, one of which is heritage-listed.

Merlo’s landscape plan has been designed to ensure the retention of the Pin Oak and Golden Elm canopy trees located in the south-eastern corner of the site. It will also provide an further two Pin Oaks and 12 medium sized canopy trees around the building.

Four medium sized canopy trees are proposed within the Malvern Road setback to provide a buffer to the streetscape. A significant number of small shrubs, grasses and hedges are also proposed throughout the site to limit bulk impacts to the neighbouring properties.

Two of the most established companies in Victorian real estate, Buxton and Beller, have announced they will be joining forces.
From July 1 they will form a partnership under the Buxton brand.
Beller currently manage over $1.5 billion in residential property. Their team of more than 20 agents and support staff will continue to service their clients.
Founded in 1994, the Beller Group’s Windsor office, led by Beller Group Director Andrew Fawell, will now become Buxton Stonnington, bringing the company to a total of 24 offices across the state.
“For me, it was a matter of future proofing and evolving the business; doing what’s best for our people and the company," Fawell said.
"What I admire most is Buxton’s innate ability to attract incredibly talented people to the business, which is vital to a brand’s longevity.
“Buxton has such a deep heritage with over 150 years in Melbourne’s real estate market.
"There is a lot of value in a company that has been through a significant number of property cycles. 
"Comparably, we have 25 years of history so joining forces makes sense strategically,” Fawell added.
Buxton CEO Nathan Jones said he was excited about the partnership and the acquisition of such experienced and quality operators into the group.
“Buxton is really well placed to continue increasing its market share in Stonnington," Jones said.
"We have historically dominated Melbourne’s Bayside and South East, and we’ve now taken strong leadership positions in Greater Geelong and Ballarat whilst having a growing presence in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs.
“The Beller Group is one of Victoria’s largest independently owned residential businesses in the industry. This collaboration, although borne out of opportunity, will allow us to extend our focus into the key blue chip suburbs within Stonnington.
“As our network strengthens year on year, we are spending more time developing strategies to improve customer acquisition and advocacy, and this move was certainly a major part of our focus,” said Nathan.

One of Australia’s oldest real estate groups has seen the appointment of a new leadership group.

Mark Earle, the director of Buxton Sandringham takes the position of chairman of the board and will work alongside Chris Hassall, director of Buxton Bentleigh to run the informal training for the group.
At the helm of the group is Buxton’s chief executive officer, Nathan Jones, who is responsible for overseeing 400 staff members across 20 Buxton offices. 
Formerly with NAB and Macquarie Bank, Jones joined Buxton in 2012, before taking over the role of CEO in 2015.
Nigel O’Neil, a chartered accountant and former CEO of Hockingstuart, joined as an executive director in late 2016.
Along with Mark Earle, Chris Hassall, Ben Riddle, David Hart and Craig Williamson, the new leadership group has plans to turn one of the oldest real estate brands into the most progressive real estate business in Australia.
“Our focus is on continually developing culture, leadership and technology, whilst not forgetting the foundation of personal relationships and how connected that is to our customer experience,” Jones said.
The leadership group at Buxton is now heavily concentrated to those in their 30s and 40s, something that is quite rare in traditional real estate circles.
“We’re at a point of making a pretty heavy digital transformation within our business, which at its core has been driven by enhancing the customer experience.
“Those transacting the heaviest in real estate are Gen Y and Millennials, as either buyers or tenants, and their transition to the role of vendor or landlord is evolving..

Buxton appoint new leadership group for Melbourne offices

The 18-office Victorian estate agency Buxton has a new ownership group.
Buxton Corporate will now have seven directors.
The directors include Mark Earle, David Hart, Ben Riddle, Craig Williamson, Chris Hassall and Nathan Jones.
"We are also excited to announce that we have secured <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nigel-o-neil-6a932813" target="_blank">Nigel O’Neil</a> who will join us as managing director," Mark Earle advised staff this week.
"Nigel has nearly a decade of experience leading and developing another real estate group and brings a wealth of knowledge to that role.
"The new leadership team is extremely excited about the future at Buxton and we look forward to sharing more in 2017."
O'Neil's appointment comes after his rapid exit from hockingstuart in February after 8 and a half years’ service.
"When these discussions commenced, the most important aspect for me was for Buxton to remain as Buxton," Earle added.
"Albeit the last few years have been very strong, we firmly believe our best days are ahead of us.
"Our aim is to make Buxton even more of an attraction brand for vendors, landlords and agents."
The first Buxton office was established by the company's founder John Robert Buxton in South Melbourne in 1861.
Buxton has offices across many key inner-suburban and bayside locations, including the Mornington Peninsula and Greater Geelong.
