A Rye bathing box has sold for $170,000.

EYS Auctions’ Ben Thompson had two bidders for the blue bathing box.

The Herald Sun reported bidding in the renovated box opened at $80,000.

Its sale price fell short of the $175,000 to $190,000 price guide for its deceased estate auction. 

The large boat shed had been re-stumped with new wooden flooring, and reclad with timber weather boards and painted inside and out.

All asbestos had been removed.

Located on Rye Foreshore, the boat shed was available for the first time in over 35 years.

O'Brien Real Estate agent Mathew Blakely had given a price guide of $120,000 to $130,000.

It was bought by the comedian Stephen Curry and his family, including The Dish star Bernard.

There were seven bidders who sought the boat shed that last sold at $3,500.

After the auction Curry revealed to the Herald Sun his family had a long connection with it, as his father missed out on purchasing it when it last sold.

His mother hopes one day her ashes will be scattered nearby.

Renovated Rye bathing box sold for $170,000

The celebrated international novelist Derek Hansen and wife Carole have sold their long held Avalon home before its scheduled auction.
It was sold through Raine &amp; Horne James Baker who had price guidance of $4 million to $4.4 million.
They had owned <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-avalon+beach-123751778" target="_blank">the three bedroom home</a> for 25 years having paid $910,000 in 1991. It was later refurbished by Alex Popov.
Derek is best known for his Lunch with ... novel series, as well as the likes of the Perfect Couple, Remember Me and Blockade to name a few.
The 975 sqm parcel comes with an inclinator which leads to a boathouse.
Derek's wife Carole is a former Mosman retailer who specialised in Art Deco china, especially Clarice Cliff. In 1995, she co-wrote Tea And Sympathy with her husband.

The mystery buyers of the bullish $8.3 million McMahons Point boathouse sale were commercial cleaning tycoons Aurora and Franco Fonte.
They are no doubt set to undertake the rebuild of the <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-mcmahons+point-126201846" target="_blank">two-bedroom house and boatshed</a> although not yet as it has been listed for $1250 a week rent.

Expected to be the most expensive boatshed in Australia, the Point Piper estate of the O'Neil family has finally sold.
The Wunulla Road property only comes with a boatshed as some sort of accomodation on its 2000 sqm harbourfront parcel. There's a pool, and four marina berths.

It's been in the O'Neil family since it traded for £9,000 in 1958. Back then it was sold by Polish-born World War II survivors Dr Ignacy Listwan and his wife Elvira.
The O'Neils secured the waterfront when added a third title in 1973. They paid $21,500.
The sale price is unconfirmed with the offering recently taken down from websites.
It took more than three years to sell since its initial offering.

A Dromana boatshed on the Mornington Peninsula has sold for $590,000.
It marked shed 179’s first sale in 26 years.
The vendor included all the property’s contents, the fishing boats, kayaks and boating equipment.
Hocking Stuart Rosebud and Dromana selling agent Steve Edmund said at 15x10m, the <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-vic-dromana-126986462" target="_blank">boat shed No. 179 </a>was about four times the size of the average beach box.
It housed the Dromana Boat Hire business for decades, run by Paul Donnelly.
