An Avalon hillside beach house designed by modernist architect Sydney Ancher has been listed for a March 5 auction.
With views of the ocean, the house was home to the late Dr Michael Kaye, the gynaecologist who delivered scores of northern beaches children throughout his career.
Dr Kaye bought the house in 1998 for $1,075,000. His sons, Nick and Cody, are now selling the property.
Set on 1429 sqm, the five-bedroom Palmgrove Road property has been listed by McGrath agent James Baker with a $3 million price guide.
Ancher was once described as “the most outstanding domestic architect in Sydney”. He won the RAIA Gold Medal in 1975.
The house epitomises Ancher’s vision of an open-planned home with pergolas and wide terraces where the interior opens up to nature.

Award-winning music producer Sam Littlemore, better known by his stage name Sam La More, has spent $2.35 million on a house at Avalon Beach having returned from LA.
The multiple platinum selling, ARIA award-winning record producer had been producing hits in the US and London but is now more focused on his part in popular dance trio Pnau. 
They band, which includes brother Nick, are set to headline Luna Park's New Years Eve event Scenestr.
The <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-avalon+beach-125708174" target="_blank">architecturally designed five bedroom igloo-style home</a> on the pricey Riverview Road spans three levels and offers gun barrel views over Pittwater.

Littlemore sold his Paddington bolt hole for $1.94 million last year.
Before moving in to the music industry, the creative Littlemore co-founded new media design agency Selenium Interactive at the age of 23.
He ran design teams in Sydney and London, producing work for Coca-Cola, HSBC and Sony Playstation.
Within 18 months they had opened offices in San Francisco, Hong Kong and Shanghai. He sold the company two years later to pursue a career as a recording artist.

Award-winning producer Sam Littlemore buys igloo Avalon home

Builder Robert Yazbek is set to emerge as the buyer of one of the exclusive Stokes Point, Avalon homes, Cooinda, which sold recently.
<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property/6-cabarita-rd-avalon-beach-nsw-2107" target="_blank">Cooinda</a>, which looks out to Palm Beach and Lion Island, was sold by coal industry expert Malcolm MacLennan and Kim Turner.
Designed with elements of sandstone, timber and glass, the five bedroom, five bathroom home has been extensively rebuilt since last trading for $6.5 million in 2006. 
The sloping 1,630 square metre parcel leads down to the 30 metre frontage that features a private sandy beachfront, boatshed, and sheltered deep water berthing.
Lachlan Elder at LJ Hooker Mona Vale sold the home for close to $13 million.
Cooinda is just two doors down from Finisterre, the 7000 square metre waterfront estate owned by the Oatley family.
The late winemaker Bob Oatley paid a record breaking $20 million for the mansion in 2002.

Avalon's Cooinda sells to builder Robert Yazbek

The retired Andrew Rogers, former chief justice of the commercial division of the NSW Supreme Court, and his wife, the former federal Assistant Treasurer, Helen Coonan, now a Sky News commentator have sold their Avalon weekender.
The $3.1 million sale was to Laurence Eastwood, one of Australia's most distinguished production designers, and wife Deborah.
Laurence worked on Newsfront, Crocodile Dundee II, A Town Like Alice and Phar Lap.
The property was in the news 15 years ago over its status with arising the electoral, land tax and capital gains tax implications for the Woollahra couple pre-occupying Prime Minister John Howard's attention for weeks. Canberra veterans recall it was the making of Mark Riley's career in the Canberra press gallery.
Rogers had bought the 1500 sqm Paradise Avenue waterfront for $125,000 in 1979, four years before he married Helen Coonan.
The Eastwood's had been looking since selling at Lovett Bay to Justin Hemmes, the hotelier who is spending plenty of time up that way given his recent acquistions.
The Eastwood couple bought the block of land overlooking Morning Bay at Lovett Bay for $510,000 in 1996.

The couple have settled on Leontine, the grand <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-avalon+beach-124810282" target="_blank">1930s California-style hacienda</a> modelled in the Spanish Colonial tradition. It cost $4.73 million through LJ Hooker agent David Watson.
The 1630 sqm estate has been recently restored with a five bedroom home along with a wet-deck heated pool.
They sold their redundant Whale Beach Road designer digs after dropping the price to $2.2 million having initially sought $2.5 million to $2.75 million for the 2011 Kelvin Ho-designed home.
The couple’s Blueys Beach holiday home is under construction having bought a beachfront block two year ago for $975,000.

Fashion designer Deborah Sams upgrades in Avalon

Film producer Anita Jacoby and her accountant husband John Cary have finally sold their long-held Avalon waterfront for $3.8 million.
It achieved right in the middle of its $3.7 million to $3.9 million price guide that was offered through McGrath Avalon agent James Baker.
The redundant four bedroom home previously had a price guide of $3.85 million to $4.23 million with LJ Hooker's David Watson when it was listed heading into Spring.
Jacoby paid $206,000 for the 1021 sqm property in 1985 and commissioned award-winning architect Peter Tout to build the home about 20 years ago.
Still smitten with Pittwater she said recently that most people don’t realise how beautiful the peninsula is."
“I’ve been all over the world and Pittwater is world class to me.”
The media executive is best known for her work on Enough Rope, 60 minutes and The Gruen Transfer and was previously managing director at ITV Studios Australia.
The couple upgraded in the suburb in 2015, spending $5.7 million on six bedroom waterfront surrounded by tropical gardens.

Peter Tout-designed Avalon waterfront sold

Hugo Wran, the son of Jill Wran and the late former NSW Premier Neville Wran, has bought at Avalon.

He has paid $1.8 million for an Avalon beach home, with a mortgage back to his mum, Jill.

It is set just 100 metres to Avalon beach.

The rustic four bedroom house comes with a sandstone base, with the block having expansive lawn along with a separate garden studio.

There are sandstone stairs leading to a covered entertaining deck.

Jill has been identified as the mortgagee to her son Hugo's new purchase, a $1.8 million home at Avalon Beach.

The four bedroom home just 100 metres from the beach is framed by established manicured gardens with a separate garden studio.

Only recently did Jill Wran sell her retreat on the northern beaches, a 1930s Palm Beach retreat, Hibiscus Cottage.

It cost $6 million in 2009 and fetched $6.95 million in an off-market sale when sold to Watsons Bay property developer Andrew Wiesener.

The traditional three bedroom, two bathroom cottage overlooked Pittwater at the north end of Palm Beach on the 613 sqm parcel.

Hugo Wran buys Avalon, Sydney beach house

The former television producer who turned luxury resort entrepreneur Henry Crawford and his wife, Nina have sold their Avalon Beach home as they again head to Queensland. 
The trailblazing Australian TV drama producer - who set actors like Nicole Kidman on the road to stardom - and his wife who works on Blackmores corporate communications - secured $1,845,000.
Bordering Ruskin Rowe and a short walk from the village, the timber house has a relaxed feel with a lush level garden.
The much traded 2005-built, open plan, two storey house cost $1.64 million early last year after their return from New Zealand with their two daughters.
After beginning his career as an actor and lawyer, Crawford joined Crawford Productions, one of Australia's largest production companies, owned by distant relatives Hector and Dorothy Crawford. He went on to produce about 1,000 hours of drama with Against The Wind and the Emmy award-winning outback mini-series, A Town Like Alice among his solo efforts.
He then decided to try his hand at the tourism industry, building Vatulele, a luxury 19 bure beachfront resort in Fiji then more recently running Crawford's at Arrowtown, near Queenstown.
During his two decades at Vatulele, it was voted the world’s best small luxury hotel.
It's back to Brisbane for the Crawford's who previously briefly owned the 1910s home, Akoonah at Hamilton after selling their converted Clovelly warehouse, The Stables in 2004 for $2.4 million. 
He's kept his links with Brisbane having been an assessor of the student graduation films at Griffith University.

The top sale of the week was a six bedroom waterfront home with private wharf in the NSW suburb of Avalon, according to CoreLogic RP Data.
The property, <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-avalon+beach-120938241" target="_blank">17 Riverview Road, Avalon Beach</a> (above) sold for $5,700,000 through David Watson and David Mackay of LJ Hooker Avalon Beach.
It last sold at $910,000 in 1983 as a land value for the 2076 sqm holding. More than $5 million was being tipped for the six bedroom home.
