The Ritz-Carlton hotel has opened its doors in Perth's Elizabeth Quay.
Located at 1 Barrack Street, the hotel offers 205 rooms including luxury 18 suites.
“When FEC representatives first toured the site more than five years ago they were blown away by its beauty and quickly formed the view that this was the location to attract the Ritz-Carlton hotel brand back to Australia,” said Craig Williams, the Executive Director of Far East Consortium (FEC) who developed the project.
“The results speak for themselves,” added Mr Williams.
“This is a great showcase for Perth and Western Australia, and in fact we believe it is the best hotel in Australia.” 
The opening of The Ritz-Carlton hotel at Elizabeth Quay is the first of a new roll-out of the luxury hotel brand in Australia,
FEC currently has a second Ritz-Carlton hotel under construction in Melbourne, planning is underway for a third in Brisbane and they are also hoping to bring a fourth Ritz-Carlton to Sydney.

Ritz-Carlton hotel in Perth's Elizabeth Quay opens

Five individual retail strata lots forming the ground floor of Perth’s The Towers at Elizabeth Quay has been offered for sale via expressions of interest.
Situated at 11 Barrack Street, the Towers at Elizabeth Quay were completed in July 2019 with the retail tenancies (Lots 276, 277, 278, 279 and 280) due to open in 2020.
The sites are being marketed and sold by Ray White Commercial (WA) Property Advisors Brett Wilkins and Phil Zoiti.

Wilkins said the five retail strata lots offered for sale separately or as a portfolio would be complemented by a further $2 billion investment at Elizabeth Quay, including the new Australian Chevron HQ, the two towers at EQ West which recently commenced construction, and the two towers proposed by Brookfield.
“The five tenancies comprise The Towers Sales Office, Six Senses, Convenience Store, Argyle Bar and Lucky Necko,” Wilkins said. 
“Four of the tenancies offered for sale have new 10-year leases plus options, and every high net worth buyer wanting a trophy investment really need to look no further.”
Zoiti said: “The Towers feature 275 luxury apartments, with the five retail tenancies on the ground floor, alongside a second tower with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with 205 luxury rooms and 104 luxury apartments above.”

Perth’s Elizabeth Quay development has been awarded Australia’s best urban renewal project by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), Australia’s peak body for the urban development industry.

The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority's (MRA) Elizabeth Quay project has changed the face of Perth's CBD, transforming 10ha of largely under-utilised land along the Swan River into a waterfront destination, providing a new backdrop for major events, tourism promotions and news broadcasts.

Designed by Melbourne-based <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/architects/arm-architecture">ARM Architecture</a>, Elizabeth Quay’s Master Plan allows for others to develop the sites it establishes. It identifies the locations and types of built form desired, areas for pedestrians, pedestrian and vehicle routes, and sight lines to and from other parts of Perth.

ARM developed a design motif dubbed the “ripple-wave pattern” which informed the geometry of the built edges for paving and terraces, building and planting interfaces, furniture locations, trees, stairs and water features.

This motif was inspired by the Wagyl, or rainbow serpent, egg of the Noongar mythology. The pattern is embedded within the paving colours, responding to elements in the landscape such as trees and buildings, and providing the Elizabeth Quay precinct with a cohesive and structured theme.

Planning and construction of Elizabeth Quay was a major undertaking and a logistical challenge for the city but one that continues to return great results for the people of Perth, claims MRA.

Elizabeth Quay has restored a valuable physical and cultural connection between Perth’s city centre and the Swan River; a connection that had previously been cut by roads and decades of development.

The $440million invested by the State Government in this development was massively ambitious. City roads were realigned, valuable heritage items were relocated and iconic new attractions have been created to transform Perth’s riverfront.

The MRA literally shifted Perth city’s riverline to be closer to the CBD and encourage people to engage with the Swan River. In just under four years, a man-made inlet and 7,000sqm island were built, along with a stunning pedestrian bridge, playground, waterpark, public art, ferry terminal, boat moorings and new places to eat and drink.

While still in its infancy, Elizabeth Quay has proven itself to be a popular meeting place for the community, a must-see tourist attraction and a place that the people of Perth can celebrate with pride.

With more than $2billion in private development still to come – for new hotels, apartments, tourist, student and office accommodation – Elizabeth Quay will continue to be an exciting place to live, work and visit and will generate essential economic activity for many years to come.

According to MRA, Elizabeth Quay is drawing local, interstate and international visitors resulting in significant economic benefits for Western Australia, with local businesses experiencing record trading days.

The relocation of the city’s public ferry terminal into the inlet has also resulted in doubled ferry patronage.

<li>Lots 7 and 8 - Chevron Australia purchased the lots for $64 million for their Australian headquarters back in 2015 with a planning application deadline of December 2018 in place.</li>
	<li>Lots 5 and 6 - Brookfield Multiplex has approval for dual towers of 54-storeys and 19-storeys respectively designed by New York based REX. The mixed-use development known as Perth+ will include office space, apartments and hotel rooms.</li>
	<li>Lots 2 and 3 - CA &amp; Associates' two towers, with a hotel, 313 apartments, 171 serviced apartments, dining and retail. With approval in hand, the Kerry Hill-designed development is expected to commence construction this year.</li>
	<li>Lot 4 - The final of the development parcels to be awarded, CA &amp; Associates are seeking to develop a mixed-use project comprising commercial, retail and residential uses in addition to a post-graduate education facility and student accommodation. </li>

Perth's Elizabeth Quay named UDIA's best for urban renewal

The successful opening of Perth’s new waterfront plaza, Elizabeth Quay, shows that Western Australia is hungry for urban renewal and a pipeline of urban infrastructure needs to be mapped out following the end of the mining boom, says the Property Council of Australia.
With Elizabeth Quay complete and other projects like the City Link nearly finished, what’s the next to help keep WA growing after the mining boom? 
“The Property Council on behalf of the WA development industry has the answer, a better infrastructure delivery framework and transparent project assessment criteria. These are exactly the recommendations of the Property Councils recent reports Keep WA Growing and Mind the Gap,” Property Council WA executive director Joe Lenzo said. 
In ‘Keep WA Growing’ the Property Council has assessed nine key infrastructure projects of which priority will be given to three which will have the greatest economic flow-on effect for the state — Max Light Rail, the Peel Economic and Environmental Initiative, and the Western Trade Coast. 
In ‘Mind the Gap’, the Property Council found that the absence of an independent state body to advise the planning, prioritising and delivery of major infrastructure was costing WA investment and jobs. 
“The formation of a state infrastructure body and preparing a pipeline of future work has worked in other states, particularly in the attraction of scarce federal funding,” Lenzo said.
According to the WA government website, Elizabeth Quay is the centrepiece of a plan to revitalise Perth. The government expects the plaza by the Swan River to be a future workplace for more than 10,000 people and attract more than $2billion in private investment.
