Young Soccerroo Chris Ikonomidis has settled on his first Sydney property purchase.

He's secured a modern brick home in St Marys, a far cry from his hometown of Cronulla.

The two bedroom home is even further from Italy, where the 22 year old forward currently plays his club soccer.

It was no surprise to see the $800,000 purchase quickly up for lease.

The home was designed for dual occupancy. A granny flat is attached to the two bedroom family home.

Ikonomidis wasn't in the country when he snapped up the Monfarville Street home just eight days in to its marketing campaign through Basel Nahas and Danni Attuell at Laing + Simmons Mount Druitt.

The energetic forward found a tenant at $350 a week, reflecting a 2.2 percent yield.

Ikonomidis bought the home just before the new first home buyer grant scheme came in at the start of July.

It would have entitled him savings of around xxx should he have secured the home earlier.

The young attacking midfielder, who has six caps for the Soccerroo's, has been in Italy since he was 16 after coming through Lazio's youth team.

He has been on loan at Salernitana and Danish side Aarhus GF in recent years as he tries to establish himself in the Australia side for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

It has been rumoured that Ikonomidis is set for a permanent switch to a Seria B side in search of first team football away from Lazio, a team full of stars.
