The two level penthouse atop Woolloomooloo's Crown Gardens has sold for $6.25 million.

The apartment, that last traded for $2.7 million in 2001, spans 460 sqm of the north east corner of the resort-style block.

The lower level of the apartment holds the living and entertaining areas.

There's a state-of-the-art kitchen, lounge room and a large outdoor terrace with Weber gas barbecue.

Upstairs homes the three bedrooms, as well as a walled courtyard.

Lifestyle Property agent Rohan Alexander sold the apartment which has just been leased at $3,000 a week.
