El Nido, the Hamilton Hill home of Margaret Batt, wife of bankrupt whiskey baron and Nant Distillery founder Keith Batt, has been sold by the receiver for $1,615,000.

The 1927 Spanish mission-style home was bought by a company with Margaret at the helm for $1.43 million in 2013.

Margaret listed the home late last year with no buyer emerging, and this time receivers stepped in to sell the property.

The three level home has four bedrooms and a river pool on its 790 square metre Hillside Crescent parcel.

Place agents Tristan Rowland and John Bradley sold the home at auction.

Designed by Eric Percival Trewern for the Powers family, El Nido was possible the earliest of the Spanish Mission style houses in Brisbane, and calculated as one of the most expensive pre-depression houses erected at a £3,500 cost.

The brick and stucco residence was one of the most expensive houses erected in Brisbane in the late 1920s.
