Having sold Ashton, the 1870 Elizabeth Bay home, Ray Harris, the retired travel consultant who was a VP at American Express Travel, and his wife, Robyn, an interior designer, are set to emerge as the mystery buyers of a Point Piper trophy home.

It is the former home of the Western Sydney Wanderers co-owner Paul Lederer and wife Eva Marie.

It's been sold after they knocked back $15.5 million at recent auction through Bart Doff at Laing & Simmons.

The two level home has four bedrooms, four marble bathrooms, two kitchens, a home cinema, wine cellar and a heated pool.

Lederer, who sold his family smallgoods company in 2014, had paid $2.8 million in 1992 when they bought it from businessman Charles Scarf and wife Maria.

Designed decades ago by architect John Suttor, it's been redundant since they finished their new build on Wolseley Road.

The spent $26 million on a six bedroom home, which became the last project of the late decorator Frank Grill.

The Point Piper harbour front record stands at $61.8 million for Altona last year with non-waterfront prices hitting $39.9 million on the hillside in 2015 when Mandalay sold.
