West Coast Eagles star Nic Naitanui has made a big loss on his former Perth home.

The Swan View residence, which became an $800 a week rental following his upgrade in 2016, has sold for $900,000, having cost $1,285,000 in 2012.

It took a while to find its buyers since he'd been seeking offers over $900,000 since early in 2019 as Perth endures the long downturn following its mining boom price spike.

The two level entertainer on an 855 square metre hilltop parcel north east of Perth has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a theatre room and a rear swimming pool.

It sold through Realmark Urban agent Holly McSweeney.

Naitanui, who made his debut for the Eagles in 2009 after being the number two draft pick a year earlier, upgraded homes in 2016.

He spent $3 million on a five bedroom home with swimming pool in Mount Lawley.
