Acclaimed architect Virginia Kerridge has sold her own South Coogee home having bought nearby for $2.2 million.

The house with apartment was completed in 2011 after a six year build.

It was after paying $1.2 million in 2004, that she gradually transformed her 1930s duplex into a pair of contemporary dwellings.

Lots of blackbean timber and polished concrete overlooking gardens designed by landscape architect Jane Irwin.

The Rainbow Street Kerridge house sold through Marcus Lloyd-Jones, the selling agent from Modern House and was listed at $3 million plus.

Kerridge, who graduated from university in 1984, was described by the editor of Architecture Australia, Davina Jackson as "the leading woman private practitioner in Sydney."
