Melbourne, Australia’s second-biggest city, continues to grow with number of high-profile multi-billion-dollar developments popping up all over the city.

Buyers are back in force, after suffering through the world's longest lockdowns over 2020 and 2021.

During the lockdown period some of the city's most impressive residential apartment buildings were completed.

We've wrapped up the best seven apartment developments inside and outside of Melbourne, which are brand new and offer the chance for buyers to move in straight away.

Hawthorn Park – Hawthorn East

Developer: Dahua Group

Dahua Group recently completed their $300 million Hawthorn East apartment development Hawthorn Park, their biggest apartment development in Melbourne.

Hawthorn Park is a sophisticated residential mid-rise that is strategically located amongst Hawthorn East’s several transport, education, lifestyle and amenity offerings.

Designed by Rothelowman, Hawthorne Park delivers 368 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, featuring several amenities, including Melbourne’s first suspended sky pool. Theatre rooms, a sky lounge, gym with a yoga and meditation studio and massage suites, hammock lounge, an indoor residents lounge and a garden pavilion are also part of the impressive offerings. 

The tower also features over 2000 sqm of parkland curated by acclaimed landscape architect Jack Merlo that bring the Hickory-constructed building to life. One, two and three-bedroom apartments are still available in Hawthorne Park.

East Tower, Melbourne Quarter - Docklands

Developer: Lendlease

Lendlease’s soaring East Tower within the Melbourne Quarter development makes the most of its prime location, overlooking the Melbourne CBD, Port Phillip Bay and Yarra River.

Redefining urban living, this residential building offers a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. The Melbourne Quarter East Tower apartment building plays host to a range of amenities to residents.

Exclusive access to Club MQ, with three floors of resident resort-style amenities, is part of being a resident, which homes a 25-metre indoor pool, spa, sauna, steam room, gym, yoga and function room, private dining rooms, a library, 20-seat theatrette, as well as 38 cafes, restaurants and future retail space.

Construction for the Melbourne Quarter masterplan project commenced in 2016, with construction for the residential development finishing in 2018. The apartments have been designed by the internationally acclaimed Fender Katsalidis Architects

With more than half of the precinct dedicated to green and urban public space, Melbourne Quarter offers the city of Melbourne a new backyard.

One, two and three-bedroom apartments are still selling in Melbourne Quarter’s East Tower.

Riverbank – Abbotsford

Developer: Salta Properties 

Riverbank is positioned on the banks of the iconic Yarra River, delivering riverfront living and with an inner-city address.

Located just moments from Richmond, Kew parklands and the Melbourne CBD, Riverbank delivers a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments.

A felling of luxury has been created in the entry and communal spaces, which continues throughout the building. Basking in abundant natural light, each home enjoys a streamlined form that mimics the subtle bends of the river below.

Apartment interiors have been designed by Carr Design Group to provide a balance between the open-plan living area and the sanctuary of the bedrooms.

Referencing the earthy palette of the river parkland, a choice of two colour schemes are available in the residences.

Riverbank’s attention to detail is showcased in the choice of fixtures and finishes of each apartment, with exaggerated proportions in the kitchen, highlighted by the marble-look stone and Gaggeneau appliances fitted throughout.

For a limited time Salta Properties are paying 50 per cent of the applicable stamp duty, excluding FIRB surcharge.

Queens Place - Melbourne

Developer: 3L Alliance

Queens Place lands at 350 Queen Street, with its inner-city block rich in amenity.

The master plan represents a competition-winning design for 3L Alliance, completed as a joint venture between Fender Katsalidis and COX Architecture. Conceived as a twin tower development, the design of Tower One features an 80-storey residential building with five-level podium, enriching the ground plane through new linkages and an enhanced public setting within the Queen Victoria Market precinct.

Comprising one, two and three-bedroom apartments, the residences are a collaboration between COX Architecture, Fender Katsalidis Architects and Hecker Guthrie, offering a choice of finish levels, amenity and view opportunities.

The split-level Queens Terraces and City Rise apartments span from levels three to 50, with their own ground floor lobby, while also enjoying access to extensive communal facilities on podium levels three, four and five.

The High Rise apartments are on levels 53 to 68, while the Queens Residences take up the remaining floors from 69 to 78 with a selection of penthouses and sub-penthouses.

Queens Residences and High Rise residents also benefit from the convenience of a private entry lobby and, in addition to the facilities on levels three to five, receive exclusive access to the premium resident amenities of levels 51 and 52.

Situated at the verge of Flagstaff Hill, Melbourne’s highest point, Queen’s Place becomes a prominent feature on the CBD skyline, close in proximity to a range of desirable locations, including Queen Victoria Market, Flagstaff Gardens, as well as the bustling Southbank area.

Rising about Melbourne’s internationally acclaimed Arts Precinct, Melbourne Square is at 93-119 Kavanagh Street. In partnership with COX Architecture and Carr design, OSK Property have delivered a five-acre mixed-development with two residential towers soaring above – the East and West Tower.

The residences on offer are an array of premium two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, alongside a wide range of in-house exclusive amenity.

The contoured terraces of the podium connect to the streets of Southbank across the new gardens, piazzas, cafés, retail outlets and supermarket.

Boasting an expansive 14,000 sqm of private and public facilities, the first stage of the Melbourne Square precinct features a host of considered integrations to encourage an active lifestyle, including a full-line Woolworths supermarket, 3,745 sqm public park and 87-place childcare centre.

Melbourne Square offers purchasing incentives with the government scrapping stamp duty costs on new homes up to $1 million. In addition to this, Melbourne Square’s premium partners have added extra incentives that will see buyers pocket a combined saving of $120,000 on a $850,000 apartment.

Sky Garden - Glen Waverley

Developed by World Class Global, Australia 108 is the newest icon of the Melbourne skyline, taking pride of place for years to come.

Located on Southbank Boulevard, the striking tower was designed by renowned architecture firm Fender Katsalidis-designed, with its now signature "gold starburst" on the exterior of the building 60 levels up no doubt a point to the sky feature from the street.

The apartment complex features hotel-quality amenities, including grand lobbies, a ground-floor lounge and porte-cochére.

On level 11, the Sky Rise Club features a lap-pool, well-equipped gym, theatrette, grand dining room and virtual golf room.
