East West Link should be subject to same scrutiny as smaller projects

The proposed East West Link in Melbourne has stirred up a lot of controversy particularly after a recent assessment from Melbourne City Council found it would irretrievable claim 6% of Royal Park and increase traffic along certain areas.

And there have been ripples in the housing market in places like Collingwood which will be home to a freeway off-ramp.

Developers are nervous about the multi billion project which could affect a number of off-the-plan developments.

But the state government says it will halve travel times from the Chandler Highway to the Citylink.
